Thank you for this. I got my first meat rabbits (from a breeder who was down-sizing) I got them in the late spring. Their breeding did not go as it does on youtube channels. Haha. I had breeding but no fall offs. It was already a warm season so I decided to wait until it cools off to try again.

I felt so discouraged when we started because our rabbits didn't breed like rabbits on RU-vid. I know everyone wants to show that they know what they are doing, but sometimes it just isn't really like that.

I'm glad you mention y'all expect around day 35. I didn't know anything so I bred two a couple of months ago and have the kits from them and they are doing well. But I went ahead and bred the third one and she is due any day. I had marked last Saturday, but that was for 28 days. Looking forward to your book.

27-40 is the normal window, but we have never had any come close to day 27. When we first started, I thought my rabbits weren't bred because they didn't have babies by 30 days. On day 34 &35 we had litters. They have been around 35 days ever since, except one that surprised me by going 41 days.

Mostly it's just time consuming. The rabbits have to do all the work 🤣

This is really timely for me…. we are finally ready to breed our doe (Hunni) to our buck (Arlo)….. let’s hope it happens as they are both first timers. Omgoodness gurl…. it’s full on for you, I would be so cranky finding the fridge open…. you multi tasker you 😆 I’m sitting here saying…. come on Jaxxsom, I need to see action😂 Hmmm some Kentucky fried rabbit hey 🍗 Ohhhh bless Declan 🥰 Lessa is stunning 😍

Woohoo! Good luck breeding! Have you ever seen a rabbit fall off when they get the job done? It's actually pretty dramatic. I laugh every time. The buck literally falls over when done.

They would make good eating, but don't try to keep them for breeding. Wild rabbits go crazy when caged and will eventually die from our. That's why none of our meat rabbits or pet rabbits are bred from American wild rabbits. They all descend from European rabbits

Hey! Declan is adorable 💜 you may want to try putting your new buck and the doe you want to breed in a different structure… he seems like he is being aggressive in his domain…a change of scenery may do the trick 🤷‍♀️

Thank you. He has gotten everywhere he loves the camera. Thankfully Jaxxom (the new buck) settled down after that first day. It was so weird. I have never had a rabbit react that way. I'm not sure he ever got a fall off, but I'm just thankful he settled down and stopped with his madness. I will definitely try your suggestion if he reacts that way again.

Thankfully we don't have experience with tough rabbit meat. It's all about how you prepare it and cook it. With older rabbits, I slow cook them or pressure can them. It works every time!

I have a question please answer my female gray Dutch was breed with a small bred what will b the result will the bunnies grow like their mother or their father whose is a small breed .she gave birth to 9 bunnies

Most likely they will be in between mom and dads size, but they could be mom or dad's size also. Genetics are funny and each litter you have with them will be different. Dutch rabbits are small rabbits already. Did you breed her to a mini?
