I was born and bred in Bilston and the meat van man really used to exist. He was a tour de force in selling . The van was huge and open sided and there was always a crowd around it. The old outdoor market behind the now demolished Victorian Market Hall was an amazing place (but that in the days before Tesco because Bilston had a Woolworths next to the market). In Winter all the stall holders had kerosene lamps and you would walk around in that beautiful soft light they gave off while choking on the fumes. There was also a guy selling carpet and lino and they had these huge rolls of carpet that they literally used to unroll to show the pattern. It was amazing. Tom really captures it 😂
From wolverhampton and got married in st leonards in bilston. I can still remember my mum at the meat van. The excitement was tangible and the old ladies actually used to swear at him for pricing too high! Its the funniest thing ever. Bilston market was the best.
Oh my i was ready for a laugh after the day i've had,and thank you for this clip.I haven't laughed so long in ages.Pure gold from beginning to end.Great observational humour.....always the best kind.Laughing at everyday occurrences is always enjoyable....I'm in that crowd outside the meat van.
I gigged with Tom at a club in Cardiff way back in 2005. Terrific bloke. We both were high as kites from drinking and smoking by the time we hit the stage. Great night and the audience had a fun night out too.
Fantastic delivery! Maybe this is his 'Mike Wilmot - Caravan' or 'Dylan Moran - Skinheads' - would be a highpoint for most anyone. Clean, paced, self-aware, love this bit.
It's such a shame that Tom never really hit mainstream. I think it's because even though his wit & charm is as dry as a Nuns kickers, I don't think anyone else had any comebacks for him. Or maybe he smoked everyone else's pot backstage....
Saw this set at Jongleurs comedy club about 11 years ago. Funniest set I've seen... So memorable to this day..Jim Jeffries came on after! Nobody knew who he was back then. Tom killed the set though. Don't recall anything from Jim's set.
Watched this so many times and l still laugh out loud its relatable up and down the UK every weekend.. But what makes it funnier is the fact he is American ❤️
Genius! I've seen the meat man he's talking about! Only seen Tom once live but he is so funny and the meat man sketch (faggots are a local meat and onion delicacy with a west country sauce) always cracks me up.
I've seen him twice live. He played in St Georges Hall on my birthday and he was off his face! It was possibly the best stand up I've ever been to see! Walks out on stage "Fuck me this is the fanciest place I've ever been! I feel like spitting on the floor" In a grade listed building! hahaha this guy is pure comedy gold!
I don't know where you're from, but in the UK tracksuits are seen as the 'uniform' of the unemployed and thugs. If you wear it to the gym, it's healthy: if you wear it all day every day, it's an unemployment uniform. He's being sarcastic. Very funny
My hometown is a pretty amazing, it’s also full of poor people, and we do love our bargains.. it’s so true it’s funny, but there is much more to Wolves than this guy.
