I'd upgrade too with all your work into it. Looks like a great machine! It's worth the price if you're not going to end up throwing the meat away. Good choice Dan.
NOT ONLY THAT! I have worn out 7 "Food Savers" the top of the line models over not too many years. This chamber vac is so superior it is just crazy! If you are in the "suck n seal" game this one is actually one of the most cost effective ways to go!
Plus the bags are SO cheap. I bought a used chamber sealer for $250 during lockdown from a restaurant that closed and they threw in about 1500 bags (there is zero chance I will ever use all of them!). I must have had three or four FoodSavers over the years and they were all tricky to use, and I often resorted to partially freezing the contents to prevent issues with sucking up liquid over the sealing bar.
Hello Dan, do you have to run it that long? Looks like an amazing machine and a great review but if it’s running for a minute each bag then I would imagine that bagging a full animals worth of meat through it would take a very long time. Great review though and I am excited to have found your channel!
I'm wanting to get one, but that's a LONG time to seal one package. 75 packages off an elk would take twice as long as my vacuum sealer. Can you do more than one pkg per cycle?
Unfortunately, it really only fits one bag at a time. However, the end product is excellent, and all air is removed. If I ever had the privilege of being able to harvest an elk, I my never get a tag in the state that I live in since it usually takes 30-40 years, I would for sure use this unit to take care of every pound of it.
i got a question. I have the same chamber vac as urs. mine has a little extra movement in the right side hinge for the lid. it kinda jumps/jerks when u shut the lid. customer service said it's normal but I'm just curious if urs does this?
That's good then Dan, try to shoot as much game as possible, because you may know that it is going to be bad in America, the breadbasket of the world. Hunger is already here, almost unimaginable, but before half a year, maybe longer ago, another youtuber from Wisconsin who doesn't have a very big piece of land, which to him is more hobby than work, got from If he told the government that he was not allowed to take his crops off the land and therefore had to let them rot, he would not give an answer here if he would miss his subsidy in the next year. So hoarding is the motto and it's great that you have such a device because then you can at least create a little buffer. I would also like to advise you to get legumes at home, now I am not an American, but a Dutchman, but seen elsewhere that during the war with South and North that soldiers came to take away the fresh food, but the healthy food, which is what legumes are left behind. Legumes are a meat substitute and therefore very healthy. I have built up a stock myself, because nobody knows only God when the rapture will be a fact. Everyone who believes is supposed to be accepted, but in the time of famine many are put to the test. Unfortunately I don't remember what that website was called, because there were also many recipes on it, much more than what my cookbooks say. It is considered here as "poor people food", but it is not, otherwise you have to ask the neighbors, I understand that the Mexicans do a lot with beans. Cheers!!
