You mentioned at the beginning of the video that you were an honest, no bs kind of guy..after watching this, I can tell that you are honest with the review. I got the Meater a few weeks ago for my birthday but haven’t used it yet due to the cold weather here in Canada 😬 your review has by far been the best I have watched, that includes from the folks at Meater! Well done and thank you for this!! Smoke on Mr. Elk 🔥
Thanks for this review I enjoyed watching it can't wait to see your other videos. I've been tossing and turning on which one to get either the meater + or the meater block I'm leaning more towards the block. One last thing do you have to be doing different cooks on different bbqs to use all 4 probes?
Great review mate, pleased you had good results. I've got the Meater + and have struggled with the range. Wonder if the Block uses a different receiver or if I'm just too far away when I'm in the house.....
Many users are confused by the Meater ambient reading, which according to Meater Ambient explained, the Meater ambient reading is NOT necessarily your internal cooking temp of your BBQ.
Very useful video, Thanks. I only make one comment. At around 12 mins 6 seconds in you mention that the chicken was resting, however the App shows the internal temperature of probe 1 to be 17degrees. Because the meat continues to cook during the resting phase, If you leave the probe in the meat, the App will show the temperature rising towards the target temperature and when it is reached it will inform you when resting is complete. It is assumed that the resting environment is warm, otherwise the time taken to reach the target temp will be prolonged and indeed, may never be reached. Hope this helps.
How is your fairing now? Ive just bought mine as used it twice on the rotisserie (once for chicken and once for a rolled pork loin). Both came out perfect but as you mention I also always double check with the instant thermometer. Its handy that it reads both ambient and and meat temperature (you know when its cooked and if you need to add charcoal). Also worth mentioning that it will let you know when its rested. One thing worth mentioning is that this Meater block will also work if you pop down the shop and not connected to your wifi since the the block is connected to wifi and sending all the information to your cloud account. Enjoy the content and please keep cooking! 🍖🥩🍺👍
Hi. I dont really use it any more as I'm involved with the guys at ETI who make the Thermapen. It worked well when I used it, just a few connection problems here and there
I’ve got one of the original single MEATERs, it’s been good, especially for rotisserie. Had it two years and it suddenly not holding a charge for more than 1 hour which is annoying.
Can the bluetooth transmitter in the probe contact directly with a smart phone, bypassing the need to use the block? (Don't get me wrong, the fact that the block connects to WiFi is awesome), but the Meter+ probes don't require WifI to connect. Sweet grill and rotisserie by the way!
In the US you can get better at Snake River Farms and their Kurobuta bone-in pork chop. That cut looked more like a steak than pork. Given that there wasn't a radioactive glow from Chernobyl, we can say that it's not from the north of England or Wales. If it's from southern England, it's likely been coloured with the paint from "chopped up" Ford XR2i's.... :P
Nice cook and review. I've somehow managed to end up with a Meater and a Meater +. Using a second device as a link really extends the range of the Meater. The Meater + I've only used once but it worked great. Make sure you have the latest firmware updates, they make a big difference. Impressed with Meater and their customer service. I really like the graphs and my KJ dome thermometer and Meater were both within 1 c of each other and Thermopen in the meat was exactly the same as Meater.
So you dont know how to use it, switched up the sticks, inserted the probe while completely hiding it from the camera, applied the rub in the grill and speaking like a troll in lord of the rings, , all of this in only half of the video. Why did this come up as a fair review...
