When the meat and dairy farmers here in Idaho got a law passed making it punishable by imprisonment to film them at work, I gave up all meat and dairy. Never been happier or healthier.

Wow, that is an awesome step and exemplification of "being the change" Paul. Way to go! And wonderful to hear about the beneficial results :)

Thanks ladies.....shared...My love of animals helped me to give up meat...they are sentient beings who are not here to be used & abused..it is barbaric...

I agree with a you about sentience in animals and the abuse animals undergo in factory farming scenarios is indeed barbaric. But, let me play devils advocate on the "not here to be used and abused" thing. What exactly are animals here for? ...and do not forget that if every primate were to vanish magically tomorrow, a great many animals would still be eaten every day as a result of predation by other animals. So some of them are undeniably here to be eaten. We, however, can choose.

ok..my turn to play...when you ask why animals are here ..ask yourself why you are here? I will not comply to participate in a gruesome blood ritual such as animal consumption... the suffering that these beings endure is beyond anything.....shame on us...

Hahaha..my true self is not a predator...my true self is not my body so if I choose not to participate in killing that is from my true self....well hunting is better than factory farming..at least it is fast & they don t suffer & have no lives except ones filled with torture...you sound angry must be all that blood you are consuming....:)

Thank you! It's easy to get lost in the past and future. being conscious of the now brings you out of that hypnotic state where we can attain real joy. Just bc we've eaten or done something in the past does not mean we should do it in the now.

How very well said Peter, thank you! It is about the now indeed, and the big question to ask ourselves in any given moment: what do I choose now? Another way to look at it is that we all did what we did when we "didn't know" (i.e. operated from that habitual hypnotic/asleep state), but now that we know, what do we choose?

I will get on Kindle, Here in the US most people do consider a meal complete if there is no meat. It is as if it must be in every meal, and if it is missing people will say so, In fact think there was a tv commercail back in the day, "Where's the beef?".

Sadly this is true for many countries and people today. The power of marketing and group-think is instrumental when it comes to human behavior and habits. This is why it is essential to take back our minds and everyday actions by waking up and proceeding with conscious awareness as to what we do and why we do it.

I struggle with this too and am trying to quit meat. One argument I've heard is that our brains only started to really develop when we started eating meat. True?

Thank you for watching this episode and sharing your comment Jarlath. Whenever any major life changes are undertaken, it can be very helpful to take it step by step, so that you know what you are doing and why. This then becomes your choice, a conscious choice, and is a sustainable one, not a fad or phase of some sort. To help in the area of meat eating, it is also essential to get very honest about our personal values (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jLIAjyQ-zA4.html) and priorities, because in truth whatever is a priority for us gets done, and done quite easily, not hindered by lack of time or motivation, etc. And given what we know today about the effects of meat on our health, environment, animal cruelty, and spiritual growth, there are many reasons to release this habit. So to answer your question, that idea is false for two main reasons. First, the whole theory of evolution is extremely flawed and the narrative that is popularly accepted has been greatly crafted over the years. This topic alone requires much exploration and research, if it is new to you. Second, many sources have consistently reported on the problems with that idea. Here are just a few examples to read about it: 1. evolvinghealthscience.blogspot.ca/2012/12/why-you-can-all-stop-saying-meat-eating.html 2. www.theflamingvegan.com/view-post/Vegan-Mythbusting-2-Eating-Meat-Gave-Our-Ancestors-Bigger-Brains 3. www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2012nl/jun/paleo2.htm 4. www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3189454/The-secret-man-s-intelligence-POTATOES-Humans-evolved-large-brains-ancestors-ate-starchy-carbohydrates.html

Hi, this doesn't seem to be true, our brains preferred fuel is glucose and the special adaptation that we have is more copies of the amylase enzyme than other primates (6 as opposed to 4). Together with cooking, they give a huge boost of like available food. This is the study. It is interesting :) www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/08/150806133148.htm

Sugar is not bad for health, I've been on a high amount of sugar for the last 6 years, my blood levels are very good, health good and my fitness and energy levels are very good, it is a myth. I am vegan by the way too.
