We are reviewing the MEC Marksman Press after 2 Years! This is still an Excellent Press and I continue to recommend it to anyone who asks what press to buy. This press has thousands of rounds on it now and it's holding up like a champ! Anyone who invests in a reloading press should surely take a look at this one. Its ease of use and superior build quality is a must have for anyone looking to reload with precision.
Couple with with some quality dies like Redding or Mighty Armory and you'll crank out reloads with precision.

I've been using this press for 3 years and it's still good as new. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't catch all the spent primers. My solution was to use the bottom half of an Android phone box. It slides through the stand and sits perfectly and catches all the primers that the MEC tray misses. You just have to cut the front of the box down to fit under the arm. Thanks for the review!

Curt, I bought my MEC press around the same time you did, and like you, I was impressed and still am. You can resolve the occasional primer popping out of the tray, by cutting a piece of felt to fit in the bottom and up the back of the tray, holding it in place with two-sided tape. I am sure glad you are back making videos. We can learn much from you.

Thank you for your time you took to go through it. I follow your videos and I purchased a MEC to try it out and I am impressed by the "easy" feel to it. I already have a redding BB and this one is smoother. Both have great fit. I am happy how the ammo is turning out!! THAT is what matters the most.

Thanks for this - just picked one up with some Redding competition dies thanks to your first vid. I'm in Australia - won't frighten you with what I had to pay! I like to keep my stuff nice also, one idea for a future vid would be to see how you maintain the Marksmen (cleaning, lubing, etc!) I'd find that useful. Thanks and respect.

Got mine soon after it came out and I love it. I didn't get the original stand because it stands tall as is already so I just made my own that puts the primer catch box flush on the table. My two minor complains is that even though I did everything I could to seat that primer drop chute with a hot glue gun and the gap is minimal - STILL I get primers on the floor now and then. And the 2nd is priming. Kind of wish I could prime with it for those few times when you want to load a random round or when you find that one proud primer that a hand held tool won't deal with it.

Update: Just sized and loaded forty rounds using my Redding FL bushing die and the Mec press. My runout went from an average of .004 to less than .001. Never would’ve thought that a press could introduce runout like my old press was, but clearly I was mistaken. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction and again, thanks for all your great videos and reviews. I’ve been reloading for a very long time, but this just goes to show that you’re never to old to learn new tricks.

I bought this press about 3 or 4 months after your review back in 2018 and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to produce highly concentric/accurate ammo. I also have gone to using Mighty Armory dies I believe they can't be beat for the money, the run-out I'm getting on 308 and 223 ammo is typically under half a thou.

Kurt, I pretty much can echo what you have said. I had several criteria when I bought a new press. Open front, ability to use LnL bushings, and able to be be run left handed. I looked at the Iron press, Coax, and the MEC. The Iron Ive heard has some issues with shell holder tipping. The Coax was too cramped as I have very large hands, cant be run left handed (handle can actually be in the way with some really tall seating dies), cant use LnL bushings. The MEC was a good fit as it could do all 3. Lastly, I am in WI, and being able to support what is a business that is an hour from me was a good thing. The best thing I did was swap the handle to be run lefty. I am right handed, but moving the lever is a dumb movement, so its perfect for my dummy left hand. This frees up my right hand to set brass and bullets which can do fine motor skills much better. I highly suggest giving it a try. It will improve your work flow a bunch. After I was happy with that I contacted Inline Fab and asked Dan to make me a left handed roller handle. Well worth the money spent as well.

Being as theis press has the floating shellholder, that was what sold me on it. I have a 40 yr old Rockchucker, no real beefs with it. Also have a Co-Ax, it is worth the loot and then some, but, has some limitations and things that are awkward to do on it, or I have to buy a different tool for.. Like the front opening on the MEC better than the Rockchucker, spent primer handling is far better, it is plenty tall enough inside for 90% of reloaders needs. You say you found .0005 slop, shellholder makes up for that easily enough, and .0005 isn't really worth worrying about. MEC has plenty of experience at building presses, they did this one right, it actually feels better than the Co-Ax in operation to me. Having both is the best of both worlds though.

I have several single stage press, and honestly the best are made in europe, they are incredible(all the brands), I have a Turban, it's expensive but it's the price of quality(all in steel CNC machined, multi guidance with "plate" and bronze bushing with ball bearings). But there are other european brands with the same spec and "qualities", less than half oh the Turban press price(approx the same price than Forster co-ax).

I think you just made up my mind... I started with a RCBS Partner press and it was an ok press. I more recently picked up a new Dillon 550C and a very lightly used Hornady Lock-N-Load so I can size and do load development on the single stage then transfer everything to my Dillon to crank out ammo. My problem is that my Hornady press is already worn out with all kinds of slop in it and I've got to the point with my shooting and reloading that it's holding me back. So I started looking for a good single stage that will match up with the precision I can get out of my Dillon and everything I'm looking for keeps bringing me back to this press... Great video brother just subbed!!!

Very good review thank you. Wonder what longer term success of the RCBS "Summit" will be? Where I live (South Africa) RCBS imports are always available but MEC less so. One does find that the MEC shotshell reloaders are imported now and then but usually it is a case of the future owner doing the importation, which in terms of the US ITAR regulations can be difficult.

I just received my Marksman, and my first impressions of it are terrible. The entire front and back of the vertical supports have huge gouges where someone took an angle grinder and chewed up the surface prior to powder coating it. It's hard for me to have any kind of confidence that there is any kind of precision in this press, if they are willing to do this. I called to talk with them and got the too bad, so sad, but that is the way they are line. This is a crock.
