I'm really happy hot rodding has come back around in fashion to it's roots. If there were new cars to buy when GIs returned after the war they would have bought new cars. But they built unique cars out of what they could find and created with it many different subcultures of enthusiasts for specific styles we enjoy today. I originally as a kid wanted to become and did become a professional handlettering sign painter and pinstripper. But that buisness became practically impossible to earn a wage doing with computer cut vinyl lettering and Basecoat/ Clearcoat automotive finishes. I did the typical standard boring to me personally collision work for several years. Before finally just going back to the family trade taught to me in my youth as a backup. Still welding and machining to support the family and get our kids through university as steady work. But have a ton of fun, meet nice folks, and make fairly good pocket money now putting stripes and faux signage on "Rat Rods" Almost noone left around that can do it in the first place. Let alone know the how and why signs fade over time in a certain way and can artificially reproduce a convincing patina.

Absolutely fantastic machines. Shame the government keeps trying to quash people's creativity. I'd happily own one of those any day versus some newer, soul-less, computer-driven chunk of plastic that the government somehow approves of. Good on you for keeping that creativity alive and turning out some great machines!!
Fantastic builds, top marks for having the stamina and drive to get to the end of your projects... Isn't a a shame even in this day and age creative people are still labeled " ridiculous, crazy, or weird "..... Don't be afraid to step outside the box... Get of your arse and do something....
My thoughts exactly in regard to not painting everything and leaving the history of the car showing. That is much more interesting than new paint and chrome. I built a '34 Ford chopped coupe rat-rod well before the term was coined. I remember explaining my philosophy to car people...it was something not much heard of but they seemed to understand and agree.
Ok so this I had first seen on the Snapchat story, and when the guy had said “ small block chevy” on Snapchat you had put out IN WORDS ON SCREEN, “SMALL BOX CHEVY”. For a organization that has its own social media platform, mistakes like these are laughably bad. It definitely proves that the people on this show don’t know much about cars and trucks, only the looks. Get your stuff together because the next mistake might be way more noticeable.
