MechaniCUM is better cause it includes the thing your mum loves to guzzle Speaking of guzzling - guzzle Geologies 70% off skincare package here : geolog.ie/MAJORKILL70 It'll change your life... the skincare not the guzzling Actually it might
I’m having a new prosthetic made right now, and I’m putting the Mechanicus skull logo IN the resin of my leg. The mechanicus seemed appropriate since I had my weak flesh replace with the superior cold hard steel and carbon fiber.
Industrial maintenance here, I love the Mechanicus because I know exactly what they are going through. Here are a few examples: We run 25+ year old PLCs on a bunch of equipment and when they fault or "lock up" we can either try to navigate the hundreds of pages of old DOS based code to find one stuck bit and attempt to fix it (Which usually causes other problems) or we can just give it the ole "Siemens' Reboot" (Cycle power) and it will run until the next fault. When upgrading or replacing Variable Frequency Drives I started noticing that every single terminal on the drives were wired, even if it was for a relatively simple process. Also most of the drives had expansion cards for additional terminals, also all wired. I started tracing the wires out and found that usually 70 to 80 percent of them went to nothing, just dead ended on a terminal strip. When the drives were initially commissioned the installers just ran all the wires and then the engineers programmed the functions for whatever wire was next in line. So every time a drive had to be replaced the job was much more tedious and time consuming for no reason. But that is how the old one was wired so people wired the new one up the same way including expansion cards that were effectively useless. We have gantry cranes that operators are supposed to inspect before using, an operator found an issue and called us. When we boarded the crane with him, before he would show us anything, he went to a disconnect on one of the panels, turned it off, and locked it out. We asked him why he did that and he said his trainer told him to do that. He said he did not know what it did or why he had to do it but it was part of the inspection "ritual". The operator boards the crane to inspect the hoist cable, he was locking out the bridge function that has nothing to do with what he looks at. We asked his trainer about it and he said he did it because that is what his trainer told him to do. At least three generations of operator had been locking out a disconnect for no reason and they had no idea why or what it was for. It was just part of the "ritual".
Wow what the heck, such an interesting phenomenon. I'm working in a place where there's a team dedicated to maintaining and installing new PLCs, in more or less the same way as you do, very old, known inside and out how to be operated but also for their reliability. It's basically monkey see, monkey do and it's also probably easier to operationally "blame" someone else. It is however also the way we learn, this just shows a lack of deeper knowledge on the subject. And then you throw religion into the mix or "it works because I believe in something greater" and you get the Mechanicus xD.
@@goldenfiberwheat238Programable Logic Controller. It is the ‘brain’ for a piece of industrial equipment that will allow a supervisory program to control it. For instance, there will be a PLC on the above mentioned Variable Frequency Drive. Let’s say you have a pump. Without a VFD, that pump will run at one speed because its power is set and can’t be changed. The PLC will enable the VFD to modulate the power to said pump so it will run at below 100% output and only pump what is needed. It can also allow for lead/lag programming where if one pump can’t keep up a second or even third will turn on.
Well, I mean Necron tech is the safest super advanced tech to study and reverse engineer in the 40k fictional galaxy cause it is literally by design devoid of any Warp influences.
It's also the natural advancement of human tech since they both, for the most part, share the same origin. Should humanity re-discover their lost tech and fully master the necron one alongside their pyschic abillities the setting would be cooked
@@bloodangel19 Well, I mean there was that one funny lore conspiracy theory that ancient one monke Jakkeiros race are actually human ancestors - cause their tech looks blue-ish and tesla-ish, coil-ish like modern AdMech.
@@bloodangel19 yes, but that lore conspiracy theory states that one of those monke techbros colony mega ship crashed on Earth around 300,000 years ago and they mingled with our Earth monkes and now we have humankind in Warhammer 40k.
Man-Emperor of Mankind: "There shall be no religion in my Imperium!" Adeptus Mechanicus/Mechanicum: *exists* Man-Emperor of Mankind: "I'll allow it... For now. Time to get all their wonderful toys for my Great Crusade!"
I just watched one of these loretuber's videos on the emp and sanguinius. They were having a talk about leaving his planet alone in return for joining big E @amandag.6186
Mecanicum was better. They had the better tech. They had dudes flying around on floating discs, just because they could. They had weird stuff like having their troops having animal heads and emitters to make the animal sounds, why? Because it was scarier. You had a guy with a gun, sure, scary, but then he's also some kind of robot/cheetah thing with a gun? Yeah, probably pointless, but cool.
Magos Biologis Adepts be like: “your Steel and wires are no match for my immensely complex vascular system and washboard abs. Now watch as I dedicate this Lat Spread to the Omnissiah”
Horus: "I'm starting a-" Hal: "Whatever you’re proposing, I’m in!" Horus: "You don’t even know what I was going to-" Hal: "I got the gist from your vibes. If you want to overthrow the false Omnissiah I'm in!"
Superb video as always @majorkill. Could you make a video dedicated to the Navigators, the major houses, their politics, relation to the overall Imperium and factions,
@@jayday1480 For real, GW isn't gonna kill any more loyalist Primarchs, it would be bad for business. Well, they DO seem to be gearing up for a 40K version of Age of Sigmar, and when that time comes, *everyone* dies.
Why didn't the Emperor originally bury the Void Dragon on Earth in order to make all of Humanity smarter over the millennia before they spread out and left Earth? Was it because that would seriously F up Humanity?
1.the void dragon is massive and would be a logistical nightmare to transport 2.he needed it there for the mechanicus religion 3.it would wake up and destroy shit midway through transport
(Mechanics destroys Tau gun in front of guardsmen) Guardsmen: What are you doing it was better! Mechanics: NOTHING FROM THEM IS BETTER THAT THING HAD UPTIGHT ZEN SNOB GERMS ALL OVER IT!
The big difference politically during the crusade era you could say the imperium was more of a personal union between the empire of Terra and the mecanicum of mars bound together by the emperor
Love your content and presentation as always, would love to see more videos about lore, chapters people etc that isn’t so mainstream and isn’t loads of videos already?
Dark Mechanicum ftw. Putting a demon into a machine, chaos corrupted code, etc. they’re like 1950s scientists. “Can we X? Fuck it let’s find out on live subjects”
Koriel Zeth's attempt at creating the Akashic Reader was as important, if not more important than the emperors webway project to the idea of an ascendant humanity. I said what I said.
It's nice to see how the Mechanicus is starting to invent again. You could say that things are starting to get better. Not brighter (still grimdark) but better.
Funny how the Dark Mechanicum think themselves the true successor of the original Mechanicum still, even thought the Mechanicus is the true successor of the actual Mechanicum. Okay, are you all lost? Good.
@@Nakorli Before anything, what exactly are you refering to with this question? A clarification would be appreciated before I can give you a proper answer.
Am I the only one to hear about how Mechanicus interacted with the Emperor and immediately imagine it playing out like Life of Brian? “NOW LISTEN HERE! HE’S NOT THE OMNISSIAH! HE IS A VERY NAUGHTY BOY!”
Tech-Priest I have a logical question. Is it Tech-Heresy to create Laser Bolters for Space Marines instead of the usual bullets (as logical proof there are already Plasma Guns)?
Las guns are relatively weak compared to the bolter, and the bolter gets its name from the physical projectile it shoots. It is designed to kill astartes by penetrating the armor and exploding while inside the squishy bits, something lasguns cannot do. Its not tech heresy, it's just a downgrade from what they already have. Closest thing to what you're describing are the volkite weapons (however they're spelled) which were the intended weapons of the astartes but were too difficult to maintain and expensive to produce.
Video idea. Doomslayer in 40k. Imagine Doomguy assisting the Emperor in reclaiming his webway. Big E repairs the Magnus sized hole while Doomguy builds a mountain of dead demons.
Thats just that one grey knight in the warp whose soul has persisted so strongly after death that he is literally still fighting and giving commands to his living brothers.
The most reasonable split during the Heresy I personally think. The Treaty of Olympus was toilet paper and the whole point was to absorb Mars into the Imperium not be equals. Boy I wish there was more Dark Mechanicum lore. Also Gene Father video when?
Dear Majorkill - wanted to try Geologie, but their shipping is like +$50 to Aus. I'm sure you'd agree, FUCK THAT. Please get them to sort it out. Cheers
Long distance shipping is usually expensive. The store usually has little power to negotiate it down if they aren't shipping massive volumes of product on the regular. It's the shipping company who dictates the price, and usually shipping from US to AUS is just very expensive. Sucks!
It is still odd how Big E did not infiltrate the Mechanicum of Mars in its infancy. It was well within his ability and would have saved him a great deal of trouble in the longrun.
A what if video about the primares where a thing from the beginning, how would this affect the great crusade and heresy? How would this affect the legions especially the thousand sons, emporers children, blood angels and space wolves with their now more stable geneseed?
Glad that little linguistic oopsy has been cleared. I am also guilty of mixing up the names but I hope that this video will help me remember. Because the memes.
I thought it was just the Latin grammatical difference, changing Mechanicum (a neuter noun) to Mechanicus (a masculine noun), I didn’t realise they were so different
Not all the time. Stigious 8 for instance, is known for loving eldar tech (though they will still happily try to plunder tomb worlds). And honestly, the Tau aren't too more advanced than some of the really good stuff the admech have. They just don't hoard it all, actually share secrets with each other, and know how everything works.
"From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal."
I mean can you reverse engineer Eldar tech? I know that they have an explanation for how it works but they use Psyker powers to literally sing their stuff into existence? Day 502 of requesting a Commissar Yarrick Major Mini pls and thank you
