Of all the board gaming channels yours is above and away the highest quality. You should have triple the subscriptions if not more. I don't understand why some of these fellas out there don't spend the money to upgrade their recording equipment/studios to give their videos higher production value like yours. Thanks for the effort and dedication to quality (for guys like me that care about stuff like that) and flawlessly scripted content (your tutorials and play throughs save my group countless hours wrestling with learning and rule interpretations). Your channel is unmatched, Rodney. Top notch!
Great video, I checked out the RIOT dedicated page for the board game, and hopefully they can ship it everywhere... Btw 75$ for so much quality content inside that HUGE box - is a great price! Nice explanations as always! :) Congrats to you and Riot, this game's awesome! :)
I like that you play with your son as I play with mine, so I know if you are enjoyig it, we will too, and we surely will loose a bunch of times in each scenario hahahahah, cheers from Spain. Keep on doing this how to play videos, its very good for us to learn the how a game is before purchasing it, and most of thte times I dont feel the need to read the rules...Thank you Cheers from Spain
As usual you come to the rescue when I bork up the reading of rules... I was so confused (started the game really really late, 23:30 to be exact) and I changed the rules back and forth because I was unsure of what I read (and some things made me doubt I was right, and then stuff didn't really seem balanced etc etc.). At one point we were even moving and spawning minions between each players turn, and drafting each players turn... How I managed to mess it up so massively I guess we'll never know.... Now you've confirmed one of the ways we played, so I at least know we did it the right way at some point. Oh well, gonna give it another try with the correct rules. Thank you ever so much, you do a great job explaining games.
It's no fun playing something and not feeling confident if you're doing things right. Very glad the video could help. Hope you enjoy your future plays!
Hey Rodney, you may want to put a note advising that the short fuse booklet says "Locate the NEW Damage Cards and add them to the Damage Deck" but there is no new damage cards in this scenario (which i heard is correct and that line in the book is incorrect"
Really liking the look of the game, and how they manage experience points as a team so that one player isn't overly powerful and the others are overly weak (like what can happen in other co-op games i've played like zombicide). Also that price point is CRAZY. Although since i'm most likely going to get hit by heavy shipping cost to australia it's still amazing how much quality they can put in that price.
After completing all missions, how do you keep track of which Schematics are available when replaying a mission? For example, how to you pick out the schematics available for mission 4 (schematics obtained from mission 1-4) when you have an a full deck of schematics from all 10 missions.
I suprised there isn't more League refrences. Like "Chain Lighting" is exactly like Miss Fortune's Q "Double Up." The card could have had Miss Fortune on it. *shrug* Game still looks cool thanks for the upload Rodney! PS. Rito if you're reading this please PM me I got some cool ideas how to integrate a Teemo-Veigar expansion to this! XD
it's beacuse they're trying to keep mechs vs minions as a separate entity to league of legends, not requiring people to have any previous game knowledge in order to play. If they add references to things then it might look confusing as some people that don't play league wouldn't know what the heck it's supposed to mean.
Apologies if it's been asked already...regarding objective completion, does it immediately end as soon as the bomb hovers over the repair pad (move 2, but first movement is on the pad, for example), or does it resolve later (current player finishes command line, or more so, all players + minions must finish the turn)? thanks in advance!
I tend to avoid speculating on that sort of thing, as I think it really depends on the child. If you think they could follow the instructions presented here, then I'd say you're good to go.
Love your videos. 1. Can you use Ziggs overdrive ability to repair before slotting a card or is it after the slotting phase? 2. What happens if you push the bomb onto oil and there's a mech on the other side. Does it push the mech?
Good questions! Sorry for the delayed reply, was tracking down the answers :) 1. Every card of damage needs to impact. So you have to slot a damage card (which triggers it once) before it can be repaired. Overdrives must activated on your turn, before executing your command line. 2. It will push the mech.
Just to clarify the first question. The player phase is 1. Draft 2. Program 3. Execute Can I only use his overdrive at the beginning of phase 3? So I would not be able to repair a damaged slot and program there?
Hey, would it be possible to post the/a section on Towing separately? - I'm asking as towing is the most complex section of the rules, and I'd like to be able to link to it without any spoilers (I realise this is the first mission, and so arguably is spoiled immediately or nearly immediately, but I think it would still be useful). Edit: I guess it might not be possible with that bomb. Suggested Times: 5:36 - 7:09
If you are adjacent to the bomb or another mech, and you have at least 2 movement on your command card, you don't HAVE to tow it if you don't want to, right? You can choose if you want to or not?
Hey nice video! I have a question regarding oil slicks. In the rulebook it says: "When a Mech, Minion, or Bomb moves onto an Oil Slick, it keeps moving in the same direction until it collides with a wall, obstacle (including other Mechs or Bombs), or the edge of the board". So does that mean the movement does not stop at the end of the oil slick? So would the mech (at 5:17) slide to the edge of the board?
Hey Fitworm, that is the way the rule book worded it, but they didn't mean it the way it sounded. The way we have it in the video is correct, as we checked with them on that.
thank you for answering my questions!! i have so many . one more . after the drafting phase can i discard i card i drafted without using its scrap ability?? can i just discard it if i dont know where to put it??
Question: Just finished mission 1 with my friends but we were confused. Does the game end as soon as the bomb passes onto the healing pad, or does the bomb have to be on the pad at th end of the entire turn?
It took us 2 hours to win this. Won the first time we played but spent more than 1 hour just trying to get close to the bomb so that we could even begin to move it. Crazy. We played with 2 people. Would recommend 4 players on this mission.
do minions slide on the oil as well? We had an argument when I was playing this with my friends. There was a minion on the red rune (right next to the oil). There was another minion at the end (similar to how everything is set up at 9:10). The bomb was between the two minions (on the green and red rune). We were arguing over where the minion would go. Two of us (myself included) said it should step on the oil slick because then it'll slide and be right next to the bomb, the other two said it should move one square to the right because the minions don't use oil slicks to get to places I hope someone can understand what I'm trying to say here and help me out with the question. We ended up failing the mission so it'd be nice to know what should happen for the next time we try
Minions do slide on oil slicks, BUT they don't take the oil into consideration when choosing which direction to move. In other words, if their preference is to go in a blue direction, then they'll go in the blue direction, even if going in a different direction would get them closer to the bomb, if you were to take an oil slide into account. Basically, you have to imagine that the minions are not as smart as the mech players, so they'll only know to follow their programming in most cases. I hope that helps clarify.
According to Rumble's notes inside the box, Teemo is off fighting the void and Kennen was too hard since he's a ninja so he simply settled for inviting Corki. I can't remember if he invited Poppy or not though..
A mech is never destroyed, it just gets more and more damaged (and therefore, more dysfunctional). You'll find this explained in the first how to play video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FLtVB6zkvcs.html
I was curious about this too, went to their website and turns out they have a set-up video for this game as well. I wouldn't worry about it as you do a much better job of explaining the rules than they did. Keep up the great work!
Ah yes, I see what you mean. Ivan is a good guy. He got the placement of crystals slightly wrong, but I've made my share of mistakes too :) Honestly though, no one owns a presentation style - I wish him the best! Hopefully more people learn about games.
