Or that they should understand urinary tract infections?
I know I didn’t when I first started out as an SLP.
Our field is broad- we can do more than most people realize!
Let’s dive a little deeper into what’s within the scope of medical speech-language pathology and what a day in the life of a Med SLP might look like.

This video is providing all the motivation I need right now! I'm halfway through my final paediatrics placement in a school setting and questioning if I'll really ever be happy as an SLP when I graduate in a few months, but then this popped up in my subscription box and it reminded me what I'm doing it all for - everything you covered in this video got me so excited and confirmed that my heart is totally in medical speech pathology! The SYP podcast has gotten me through the majority of my degree and now that I'm in my final year, I'm going to keep coming back to this video to remind myself of what I'm working towards :) Thank you Theresa!

Theresa, thank you for your insight and wealth of knowledge! I'm an opera singer and voice teacher with a master's degree of music performance in voice, and a background in voice physiology and acoustics. I'm thinking about branching out from my original career so that I can be home with my family more often, and I'm considering going back to school for an M.S. in SLP. Do you see lots of openings in the field for people with a vocology background/ interest? I would love to do work helping people regain their speaking and singing voice, habilitation and rehabilitation. Thanks again!
