You have to have respect for Medeco. Definately ahead of the curve back in the day and were the benchmark in security which many have followed. There sidebar patent and slotted gate pin patent didn't hold any fear to Australian Lock Company when they stole their concept years later. Maybe a harsh call but non the less very suspicious. PS. Good job securing a win with the opening. Cheers:-)
Cheers. Yeah, I quite like them. A great leap forward from standard inline systems, agreed. It is probably safe to say that Brian Preddy derived some inspiration from others. :) I guess if the pins in BiLock had rotated, the lawyers would have been called in. Emhart had a few legal issues due to having pins that had to be lifted and rotated.
Awesome picking as usual mate, really liking your latest videos and seeing the great stuff you acquire - in this instance its a beautiful Medeco. Some people say that Medeco are simple to pick but I don't agree at all, they're very easy to make things go pear shaped and lock yourself out of an open. Keep up the excellent work mate! Mr Lockwood
Cheers, mate. The lock gods have been pretty kind to me lately. Or cruel, depending on the lock I am meant to deal with. :) Yeah, I don't think "easy" is the right term to use concerning Medeco. As you say, it is easy to get yourself in the position of "close but no cigar." Certainly there is no substitute for being able to determine pin states by feel and this does not come without solid practice. If asked if I can pick Medeco, the answer will usually be something along the lines of "maybe" or "which Medeco?" :) Similarly, I've noticed that some people have described BiLock as being easy. Once again, the statement is far from the truth. You know, someone picks one full of master pins and declares an all encompassing victory over the entire product line. I guess some people just feel the need to "grandstand" and act like they are "all that." We have words to describe these people down here. "Bullshitters" is one that comes to mind, although I can think of other words. ;) Anyway, I'll try to keep up the good fight. Drop me a line if you need anything.
A very impressive pick mate. I grew up on those old kung fu movies, It's all the cinema would show where I lived. They were great. I've heard a coffee before bed can actually aid getting to sleep. Cheers matey.
Cheers, mate. Fun locks to mess with, even when they're kicking your ass. :) Gotta love those old kung fu movies with their terribly dubbed English. Lots of laughs. I think there is conflicting research concerning coffee before bed. Thankfully, I don't give a shit and will drink it anyway. ;)
Cheers. You should have seen me learning how to pick Medeco. ;) Many hilarious fails. :) Don't be fooled though. I could pick up a fresh one tomorrow and fail hard.
Great great picking there Noctis, very cool lock. Have you picked by mixing the setting of driver pins with the rotation of keypins? until now I had seen pickings in which, either the keypins were rotated first or the drivers were placed first, but not mixed. Thanks for showing my friend ;o)))
Cheers. Some days I get lucky. :) Yeah, sometimes I will set, then rotate a pin at a time... as other pins are set, I may go back and test rotation and adjust... not certain it is the best way... just experimenting wildly. :)
Great work buddy, I hear Classics are some of the hardest to pick.. Kinda funny, people also say m3s are the easiest, I dont know how true that is but i thought it was interesting.. I can see how its possible. The slider on the m3 gives you a good idea of progress.. If it sets, ccw, you know your pins are rotationaly set.. Anyway, rambled on a bit there, great work :P
Hard for me to say what is harder. I'd need to get around a bit more first. At a guess, I'd say a lot depends on what you start with, time spent and how familiar you become with a certain thing. True regarding how the M3 slider will stay in place when the pins are rotated correctly. Everything else aside, they are all fun. :) Thank you.
Well said buddy.. I think I might re-pick my M3 on cam just for the hell of it.. that and im starting to run low on hi-sec stuff to pick, lol anyway, cheers buddy!
And why not, I ask? I'm not aware of any rules that dictate what locks we should pick and how often we should pick them. ;) More high-security stuff to come from me also.
Hi sec is my thing, I'm not a huge challenge lock guy, but that kind of sucks because i have a hard time getting my hands on hi-sec stuff, being in between jobs and all. But yeah, your right, no problem revisiting locks. Not in my book at least. thanks buddy, looking forward to what you have instore next!
I can appreciate challenge locks but they are not my favourite thing in the world either. Frankly, I'm much more interested in locks that exist in, and are used in, the real world. Of course, many standard locks are crap (and hence boring) , so this really leaves us with only one entertaining alternative; high-security. Hearing you on the funding side of things. Doing it pretty damn tough here as well where finances are concerned. One of these days we may do a trade and see what we can help each other out with. The trickiness will be in what we are prepared to part with. ;)
