LOOOOOVE the Spectra! I chose it based on this video. Very gentle. Let me relieve engorgement even with bloody, cracked, sensitive nipples. Feels like your baby and not a machine. I'd buy it all over again and recommend it to my friends.

I just wanted to add, that after using the pump a bit more, the Spectra isn't as loud as it sounds in the video, when you're actually using it, there's not a clicking noise.. if that makes since. I think the balloon just couldn't exactly resemble a breast.

Yeah, the latex of the balloon was sticking as it released.

I think I’m liking the Medela a lot more. I have an evenflo one and it’s good but looking at the medela that seems like a really good one to have.

Just for everyone wondering If you go to the spectra site and express interest in reviewing a pump they will send you the S2 for Free and all you would have to do would be make a video or write up reviewing for them :)

+piratenamedbecky1 yes I am extremely glad I found out I know of 4 women personally who all had this pump and I asked one if I should buy it for my upcoming baby and she let me know it would always be a great option to have a backup I only paid 60 for the import charges to Canada :)

Ali Martinez I had the same issue with Medela and Ameda. My insurance covered the Spectra S2. I am hoping it helps. Medela messed my nipples up badly and they still look funny.

my insurance sent me the medela pump in style advanced, and i was able to start up a good milk supply but now my baby is going on 3 months, and ive been using the pump 3 months and its loosing suction & making a certain noise. also im not pumping the same amounts anymore 😑😕

I still don’t know what to do. I rented the symphony from my hospital when my pump in style just wasn’t getting the job done anymore around 8 months PP. I used the symphony until about 12 months when I stopped pumping. Whenever I have my next baby I can get a spectra for free with my insurance or a new PIS. But I may want to buy a Medela Sonata with my own money. I’m just not sure which would be my best bet, especially considering I have so many pump parts for the medela PIS already and don’t really want to invest in lots of parts for a new pump. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the video. I have used the medela with both my boys. I am erring towards purchasing the medela because it’s more familiar but I am hearing a lot of great things about spectra. The only thing I am concerned about is in time does it lose suction, is there a car adapter so I can pump in the car and also can I pump at work without using and outlet? How long does the parts last so they need a constant replacement of parts like the medela (white membrane) that they suggest you change out after x amount of usage.

Spectra s2 dowsnt have a rechargable battery like the s1. I bought s1 specifically for portability. The battery can last half the day with consistent use.

The Medela Symphony is made to last for 6000 hours without deteriorating. You could always guy an inverter (plugs into your cigarette lighter and gives you a regular power outlet) for using the plug-in pump in the car.

Am deciding which breast pump to buy myself. My friend recommended the spectra and said its quiet herself. Ive never used spectra before but ive used the medela swing single pump. Does the spectra s2 make that loud clicking suction sound or is it because shes sucking the balloon up? I would really like to have a quiet breast pump..

I am wondering which pump you preferred more and which one pumped the most?
@piratenamedbecky1
@piratenamedbecky1 8 лет назад
+Ashley Raiter I preferred the Symphony, but it's hard to really compare a $2000 pump to a $150 pump. I was able to bring back my supply with the Symphony, after nearly losing it during a nursing strike. I couldn't afford to buy one, so when my rental was up, I started looking for other options. I do like all the features with the Spectra, but I really like the letdown phase of the Symphony.

they are not both hospital grade. hospital grade means the pump is powered by pistons. they are both closed systems though.
@silviagudino7660

kristin shelby Spectra is indeed a hospital grade pump just FYI.
@kriistiinbabii
@kriistiinbabii 6 лет назад
Silvia Gudino hospital grade pumps are multi user, spectra is single user. there's more than one reason why spectras aren't hospital grade.
@kriistiinbabii
@kriistiinbabii 6 лет назад
Silvia Gudino the lifespan is another reason why they aren't hospital grade, they do not last near as long as something like a symphony does.
@kriistiinbabii
@kriistiinbabii 6 лет назад
Silvia Gudino "Is spectra considered hospital grade pump? No, for insurance billing it will be considered personal use and billed under the E0603 code. We do have hospital strength pumps and they are closed system" -the spectra website. they claim they sell hospital grade strength pumps, but most personal use pumps either meet or exceed the suction strength that spectras have. them saying they are as strong has a hospital grade pump means next to nothing, because like i mentioned, most pumps on the market either meet or surpass their level of suction.

Spectra is hospital grade. It has closed system just like hospital pumps. Look into it.

This would have been cool with real milk... or rice water... an easily visible liquid.
