Supply and demand controls the free market. Austin doesn't charge anything except taxes on the market value.

This is what Americans wanted, free market without government intervention. The only downside now is Americans get more than they wanted/asked for......LOL.

Even trailer homes are pricing themselves $350k+ because they take advantage of soaring prices, they see the land value now. Supply and Demand... If nobody buys it, they'd lower it but, rich people wanting to move to Austin will, and so the prices still rise. 😔

@@magalover2024 This is a widespread bipartisan issue affecting both democratic and republican states. Not as simple as blaming a certain political party. Same thing is happening in my republican hometown. The real issue is the housing shortage. Which is caused by a number of issues that vary from a shortage of individuals who build homes, to supply chain issues. And even a lack of proper investment in our infrastructure. I’d recommend voting for politicians who are at least speaking out about the issue. Better then ignorantly voting based purely on political party.

Without property taxes the state Government will have to create and income tax, transportation tax, etc. If you want things like police and fire and paved roads, you have to pay for them.

Either you have income tax and/property taxes. You can't go without both, and eliminating property taxes will only make home prices surge even more.

People coming from all over. It the jobs. Hopefully with work from home becoming a thing, more people will stay where they are or if priced out, be able to move somewhere cheaper and keep their jobs.

When borrowing rates go up to 11.0% it will put a pin in that massage housing bubbles going on in your not so great state of Texas.

@@chriskozub8012 It has nothing to do with that. It's mainly because of the zoning laws. The city tried to get rid of them but the STATE blocked them from doing so.

By building more homes, especially apartments and townhomes.

Republicans have been in control of Texas for 28 years and you are seeing the same price surges all over Texas (and in Florida also).

@@hashiramasenju6058 you too noticed that? Yeah that was their strategy to target Texas biggest cities. I wasn’t aware they targeted Texas until 2018. I didn’t vote because we had lots of trust with previous democrats in power, but now I’ll definitely vote to keep Texas Red.
