Judy Ramsey is like many of our members. She’s retired, lives on a limited income, and is on Medicare. Judy has also been the main caregiver for her husband for the past 14 years.
When Judy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, she found herself facing the medical and financial hurdles associated with her recovery. The Ramsey’s are not alone. According to 2014 KPCO Research, 57% of new exchange members needed financial help to pay for their insurance, while 79 percent of them said financial assistance affected their decision to purchase insurance.
