My GOD! It's like this EVERYWHERE! This work environment has become typical in many U.S. hospitals too! Nurses have quit, so there's a shortage, equipment doesn't always work (X-rays, CT scans, EKG machines, etc.), there's pressure to see as many patients in the shortest time possible,etc.! THEN, your documentation has to be "PERFECT" (law suit proof). It's almost OVERWHELMING!🤯I really enjoy health care but the demands, coupled with the SEVERE punishments, have made many providers walk away. My kids are in college now, and want NOTHING to do with healthcare! 🙁 They've watched ME work, all of their lives.😮💨😅 I wish Dr.hadyza Bawa Garba the best. She could be ANY of us, at any time. I don't understand one thing. Was GMC appealing against the permanent suspension or was the GMC appealing against the 12 months suspension and wanted it to be a permanent suspension?
@@lh8474 It was the Medical Practitioner Tribunal Service that initially imposed a 12-month suspension from practice, as they considered erasure disproportionate. The GMC appealed this decision and argued that Dr Bawa-Garba should be erased from the medical register due to the Gross Negligence Manslaughter conviction. This was initially successful but overturned by the Court of Appeal. The matter returned to the MPTS where it was decided that an 18-month suspension from practice and a two-year conditional registration and review for Dr Bawa-Garba would be appropriate.

Most if not all of these unfortunate medical errors are the results of SYSTEMIC failure in healthcare. Putting the blame solely on doctors won't fix anything. Doctors and other health workers should not be forced to work while understaffed and mentally\physically exhausted.
