Oh no! The Mongols have broken down my gate! I' am totally defenseless! I sure hope that they don't try to cram all their horses into the breach protected by spears and heavy infantry. If they did that, I just don't know what I would do D: .
a late answer.this is why mongols suck at sieges.they have like 1-2 infantry.and horses cannot scale walls so they must breach the gate where you can welcome them with heavy spearmen....only those pesky horse archers
It sounds kind of like gothic European music. It reminds me of the dark corner of a dungeon inside of a castle; the walls damp, the air cold and moist.
When you fight the Mongols as the besieged in the campaign, as long as you have full defenses for your walls, and about three or four trebuchets, ten heavy cavalry divisions, five archer divisions and three foot soldiers, you are safe. But God forbid you EVER meeet a Mongol army out in open battle, they will quite literally rip your army to shreds.
I did a video called Mongols VS Spaniards where the Spanish Empire fought the Mongol across the Pacific Ocean. I was typically wrecked on land, but by controlling the seas, I had more resources which meant I could bounce back after a loss, eventually grinding them down. It's not as realistic as Medieval II: Total War.
If you have enough money get a lot of Jannisary Archers and Ottoman Infantry. If you don't just spam Saracen Militia and fire-throwers and camp the gate with the militias while burning the ladders and siege towers with fire throwers when they come close. Don't forget to pursue the routing mongols with Spahis, don't let them regroup. I've beaten Mongols so many times using this strategy over multiple campaigns. There is an even easier way though... Spamming assassins and killing all their generals in the first few turns, effectively wiping out their armies. But not everyone wants to cheese it and I respect that lol
@ImEternalWanderer not really actually. You can also get mounted archers or musketeers, they have the range to match the elephants. Basically anything that uses gunpowder will do fine, and given how the AI always mashes the elephants together, its pretty hard to miss them and make them run amok.
@morais691alexandre I once almost defeated 2 full strength stacks of Timurids with 800 men. Lost all my men, which were all Spear Militia or Italian Militia (I was Venice), HOWEVER, I killed both generals, and they lost over 2000 men. I also destroyed some 6 units of heavy cavalry and 2 units of elephants.
I like how everyone complains about the mongols. WHAT ABOUT THE FUCKING TIMURIDS??!!! I had them blocked in Russia and we kept fighting over the same city. I'd take , they'd take. Only the Papal estates (as surprising as it would seem) had a big enough army to aid me against them. Ah , those were the memories. Just me(England) , the papal estates , that only region left of France , the Russians , the Timurids , and the sodomized Mongols.(They done got pwnt by the Timurids and became vassals)
Oh good lord, the Mongols, the Mongols. I was playing as Hungary once, built a fairly sized kingdom, and got pwned up the rear without a single victorious city defense by those Mongols on NORMAL. They're f*cking cheap.
Enes Bilge maybe i have the wrong graphic resolution or something because none of my danish cavalry looks like that.they are either normal horses or draped in that checkered stuff.
to defeat mongols is more easy than timuries... I found a way to attack mongols. 10 ~ 12 crossbows unids 4 cannos, heave unid horses + general. with the horses try to keep near to mongols
I love the eastern factions and factions that are close too the east from christendom like Hungary and Poland i dont like Russia or Byzantines....The HRE is cool also as they dont really care much of the Pope THey wanna take Rome lol and have some nice units.Mongols gahhh i hate them in open field i will never forget when i used lithuanian archers stakes in front of gates ahahahah TAKE THAT CHEAP HORSE ARCHERS god damn they come with silver exp and horse archers kill my knights in meele -_-
I once defeated an 8000-men Timurid army near Bagdhad with a 1500-men byzantine army. Oops, I did not win it, I auto-resolved (My Emperor had max command)...
