We wanted an addition to our medieval display, so we built a new version of the classic 1986 Guarded Inn. In this video, Colin reviews the creation, describing its building techniques, fun design elements, and more.

I think it’s a great reimagining of a classic. Scale seems good, since it is an inn, it would house more. Keep it up!

The all-stud roof would come in handy if you wanted to add snow to it and put the building in a winter scene.

the size is good for an inn, it can and should be a big building... so even though it looks like a scale to the blacksmith (that uses 3x3 for chairs!) its really out of scale except for maybe the door size. Ideally the castle would be a little bigger but then would cost like 2x as much, but small hallways are part of castle defense. I think to help enlarge it a middle section with a courtyard and kings tower/ throne room would help dwarf all other buildings in its foot print to balance out some with height (its also not hard to raise up some of the castle a bit higher) This does keep some of the scale with the castle with the castle since the walls are the same height and width of the angled battlement. This could easily connect to the castle and look like a seemless part of it such as a barracks or kings quarters. The cypress tree works great and now I want one... any plans to make the back wall? Some suggestions but not necessary, from the video the middle interior looks very dark, perhaps a tiled floor would really liven it up. I am nearing the end of the town square build and when I moc it up for improvements will likely make some things a little taller, and finishing out the guarded tower as a separate building. gonna take a lot of brick link... thanks for sharing

I like how it looks but it is too high in my opinion. Having a house that tall takes away the usefulness of a defensive wall.
