Intabulation of Mit Ganczem Willen wünsch ich dir (Lochamer-Liederbuch) performed with plectrum-finger technique. late medieval 5 course lute made by Giordano Ceccotti (2018) after Gerard David (1480 c.ca)
Fantastic playing! You can really tell how this instrument and the playing style are closer to that of the oud than later lutes and fingerstyle repertoire
Great music, brilliantly played. Can you tell me what repertoire if any there is for the 5 course lute (as I'm thinking of getting one)? I'm thinking of European music possibly from about 1450 to 1500...
Hi! Sorry for the very late reply. There is only one xv century lute source being the wolfenbuttel fragment that is as the name suggests pretty fragmentary but very helpful to get some insights on the general anesthics of early intabulations, the rest of repertoire is mostly reconstructed from either keyboard or vocal sources of the time.
this isnt like most sports, you can start in older ages like 50-60+ and sure it might take alittle longer for some but its not too too far off from guitar, both use similar tuning so honestly you got a fair chance :" ) God bless you all keep safe be wise be adventurous but obviously not foolish lol, and no need to bully yourself too hard into doubting ur abilities And remember Lean into Gods wisdom love kindness care and understanding
Amazing ! Clearly a way different instrument than the renaissance and baroque lutes. Though I don’t think that degree of rapid virtuosity is achievable on those instruments.
