Isn’t this an out and not a lute? Nice playing btw.

Oud doesnt have frets. This has frets. Also lute has only 4 sets of strings while oud has 6. You can search “lavta” or “İstanbul Lavtası” thank you for watching.
@ this must be a type of lute I haven’t seen then. Lutes from Europe have up to 14 courses depending on the time and instrument. 6-8 was common in the Renaissance period and 10-14 in the baroque period.

@@a.m.fidelum2129 yes Lutes from Europe has different structure. This lute is designed for maqam music. It has microtonal frets on it.
@ Just a minor correction, islamic era ouds have 4 courses, and pre islamic era ouds had 3. They gained courses over time, in a similar manner to European lutes, although never gained the 8 or more courses from the end of the medieval to baroque eras. There are also types of oud, like the buzuq, that have microtonal frets. This seems to fall in that sort of category. While the term lute technically encompasses all ouds and all plucked instruments with a straight neck and a bowl back, lute generally refers to the European instrument, hence the confusion. Another guess of mine of what instrument this really is, is the Kwitra, which is the andalusian oud. The tunings between lutes and oud subtypes are also incredibly different.

@@cuttlefishrampant5241 Thank you for detailed information. I googled "Kwitra" and it doesn't have any fret. The instrument I played is also called "İstanbul Lavtası". It was played mostly in İstanbul. I think this instrument has a relationship with greek lute which has frets.
Love the accents PS: I have a duck video, a chicken video, a video where i am begging for money on Twitter, a walking video, a video where i am playing with my nuts. A short with a blog ... Also a patreon
