I collected the Lost Souls just a few days ago. When I did the lost souls, I was confused. The game kinda froze, like it was loading something. When I beat the game, I just went to the main menu, and I was in tears. THE ORIGINAL GAME! THE FULL ORIGINAL GAME! WITH THE PLAYSTATION INTRO AND EVERYTHING!
Soooo yeah, the headphones are already SOLD OUT for anyone who was interested in those... *Edit* they do appear to be back up for preorders now for the time being. Says it will ship sometime in December.
I loved Medievil as a kid. I still do to this day. It's a great thing they remade this. I hope other old PS1 games (as well as Sega and other games) in the 90s get to be remade and remastered. They are classic or notable gems that should never be forgotten.
If they do remastered I hope they fix things that happened in the original game and make it far more entertaining and fix the true ending if you get a hundred percent
Damn. I was 6 when MediEvil came out. And every time my dad played it back then, I would run upstairs and hide under my bedcovers. Why I was scared of THIS, and not Resident Evil 2 is beyond me.
Same tbh, the game looked innocent enough to not scare the fuck outta me. Then they throw a curve ball in the form of a headless zombie or a possessed citizen. The original induced anxiety in me haha
Sir daniel was one of my favorite characters back on the PS days, i never really plaed much of spyro and crash, but this buddy was up there for me with his fantastic game, dark humor and overal great world, i hope they remake the second game at some point, sony SHOULD make more Medievil games, its a great franchise with a lot of potential
few years ago there was a whole thing about a third coming out but it was an accidental hox by some random creators. apparently most of the world (me included) agree full heartedly with the idea of them making more.
I am loving all these remakes of classic PS1 era games. It's really astounding how well these old games hold up, and the new splashes of paint look nice.
Thank you for covering this game (again). It was my very first game, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I unfortunately haven't been able to get copy due to not having money. I am so happy this game has not been forgotten.
This game was an absolute treat. Only ever played the Demo on a demo disk, but I played it so much as a kid and this remake was absolutely fantastic. Perfect length, great design and satisfying controls. Everyone leans SO damn hard on the camera but that was over-judged in my opinion.
Having the original game in as a completion bonus is great, because someone like me who never got to play the original will get to play it now! Excellent video as always, Jirard!
Oh man! I'm so stoked you liked the remake!! I was really hoping it would be great. I owned the original as one of my very first PS1 titles before I had a memory card and had to marathon it to try to beat it. It still has a special place in my heart due to the silly humor and the dark themes.
Great review of the remaster Medievil, this game was one of my childhood favorites along with 2. As someone who played this game many many times this remaster really improved in a lot of areas, a great remaster of any game with one of the best completion bonuses ever.
Fantastic revisit to one of my favorite game since i was little! This is my childhood defined. Me and my brother grew up with these series. I absolutely love Medievil and to see this game gets a rebirth is our dream come true!!!! And the greatest thing they did is making the original game playable as a collectable bonus. That made me cry with happiness!!!!! Take notes other developers, THIS IS HOW YOU PRESERVE GAMES THE RIGHT WAY!!!!!!!!
I just beat it and have to say I loved it! Playing the demo when I was a kid freaked me out but there was something about this game that made me want to return to it someday. I'm very glad I did, the visual overhaul gave the game some nightmare before christmas vibes which I loved. The gameplay was a lot of fun with classic action playform style, a great variety of weapons and the characters were fun and interesting. I rarely every complete games but I may go back for the other trophies I may have missed.
I love that Jirard gives an opinion and discusses other opinions that don’t match his, and he genuinely states that is fine for people to think the way they do.
@@MrPonpokono Games like that got a pass back in those days, and it was something we just had to adjust to. Today i think it would be inexcusable for games to have, weird camera angles and suspect level designs.
IGN called fortesque “Daniel fortesk” plus they used an axe (a long range weapon) against close range enemies. The player was definitely not a gamer of any sense
Great timing. I just got a pair of those then you do a sponsor for them haha. That's so funny. But thanks for the mention? God I could of waited to use your code but I found it from another channel haha. Great video though. Love the game.
Holy shit man, I remember subscribing to you at like 5K, long time ago I swear! (New account btw) now I’ve stumbled on to you again, on one of my top tier games of my childhood! Hope you’re doing well buddy!
I will admit that I did forget the release of Medievil, but considering how they took everything great from the PS1 version and improved so much of it, it will certainly be a game I'll be keeping an eye out for the next time I go game shopping.
I've never played the original MediEvil, so I held out on buying the remake because of all the low review scores, but you've convinced me to buy the game now. Thanks, Jirard.
I'm so glad you liked the remaster. I was a big fan of the original (which I played as a PSOne Classic on PS3), and I've been wanting to try the PS4. Might get into it!
The camera in the original version was the result of development commencing in 1995, with the release in 1998. The Analogue Controller released in 1997, thus development would likely have been extended by several years especially given the inexperience of the team with 3D. Additionally, we did not miss Analogue when we did not have it, and it took many years for games to adapt their control styles to make use of the right stick. XD
Thanks for reviewing this underrated series. I'd checked the views on RU-vid, and sadly it didn't gain more publicity. If it sells well, we could get a Remake 2. Funny how MediEvil PS4 is more of a remake than Resident Evil 2 (2019) (It's more of a retcon game).
back when i was a kid. my dad had a psone. and he got a demo disc form a friend. witch had a edievil demo on it. i played it almost non stop. i wanted to play it. now i have it on ps3. and on ps4 after beating the game to 100% dont think i had this much fun completing a game before.
I couldn't agree more with your review of this game. I enjoyed the heck out of it, and the ability to unlock the original game is such a fantastic inclusion.
This game is on sale at gamestop for 19.99, thanks for your review. I did play the demo on ps1 years ago, and have some nostalgia, but saw all the mixed reviews with this remake and was on the ropes whether to get it or not. Your point of view is on par with what I experienced playing this game as a kid, I think I will enjoy this remake.
Just recently completed this. One of my all time favorite games. Played the original back in high school. I'd love the sequel to get a remaster too, then eventually get MediEvil 3. Maybe get an open world game where you can explore more of Gallowmere. Now I'm just dreaming. :D
Imagine if there was a game where every time you beat it the graphics got better and after the 4th time theres a true boss / ending and every playthrough has nods to previous playthroughs
I played the demo disc so many times...I remember it was on a timer that would stop after so many minutes. I wanted to see how far I could get and I remember getting to the first boss and that's where it would eventually end the demo regardless. I've been loving the remake
