I know it's a bit late, but he didn't deserve it initially. In the story he was a huckster and a liar in life who told the king tall tales which he believed and didn't really want to go fight a battle or attempt any feats of courage. In Resurrection, he was a more of a wannabe that simply failed yet a coward nonetheless until he arose from the dead. In the end, it was more like he just got what he worked for.
@@CPT85 Isn't it the other way round? As far as I recall in the original he was basically a good person but inexperienced in battle (as was everyone in the king's army because there wasn't a lot of war) and was unlucky enough to die in the first charge. I seem to remember Resurrection makes a bigger deal of Fortesque having been a coward in life and hanging back from the charge, to give him more of a character arc.
Honestly, I kinda prefer this version. It's art direction leaves something to be desired, but it has more energy in the animation and writing. The remaster basically only gave the original a fresh lick of paint, not really doing much to improve on a game from 1998.
these credits always make me tear up it just reminds me of my childhood good old memories long live sir daniel fortesque he deserved his rest after such a long and hard journey
Hi guys, I cannot believe it has been 6 years since i have posted this video. Thank you for the kind comments and yes, we are still waiting for another Medievil game. So SONY! Listen to your fans! Give US WHAT WE WANT!
this cutscene is 10 times better than the original one, I personally think this remake nailed the original atmosphere while delivering an enjoyable exprience even though a bit flawed. Still this ending is so emotional
Sony should really invest on this franchise again. Medievil 2 was good (the plot is pretty shitty but the gameplay is awesome) and Medievil Resurrection was a great remake. We need more.
I do like both versions. But the first one was more gothic tone and cryptic. In the first one i remember the place blowing up and him flying out then a bird catches him. I actually like that ending better. Idk but I hope they make a 3rd and final installment
I'm left disappointed. The original game was reasonably humorous but much, much darker than this. It almost felt like the humor was there the lift the player's spirit. In this game there were too many jokes and it never felt dark, not even bleek. And the asylum grounds, gallows hauntlet, crystal caverns, the lake, the entrance hall and the time device were all thrown in the bin to make way for two new levels. Scurvy ducks and Gallowmere plains... One of which isn't even a level. And that genie... That fucking genie drives you insane. And the hall of heroes looks like something out of Disney's Hercules. Do over.
Kristian Brandt They really cut that much content, did they? It's such a shame. I don't know why a simple revamp of the original couldn't suffice, with a few extra bonuses and cutscenes thrown in as well. It could have paved the way to a bright-or bleak, as it is the case-future. Instead, Dan's journey dies here. Very sad face.
***** That is not true in the slightest. This game was actually created by a completely different development team who, with the exception of 1 guy, had absolutely nothing to do with the original 1998 MediEvil. The director of the original MediEvil, Chris Sorrell, has even said that he was disappointed with all the changes that were made in Resurrection and how it took the franchise in a direction that neither he nor others from the original PS1 team would have wanted.
110% agree, I loved the dark Tim Burton-esq original, the new one felt like a marriage of Disney and Monty Python. I think it would be cool if Tim Burton would do a Medevil movie
Danny-boy did AWESOME front flips along the table before landing in the seat on a full 360 when he first arrived in the Hall of Heroes in the original game. I was expecting that in this ending, but I suppose I can settle for this, either way.
I think the fans beat down this game WAAAY too much. It suffers from modern RE sympthom I think ROMANTIKILLER2 put it the best. This game is more Disney and the original Tim burton. If you just get over the fact that the atmosphere is not as dark then you realize that This does atmosphere just as well but in different ways. Also I guarantee that if this game was not Medievil then not nearly as many whould be complaining since the writing and tone is still fun and good
Remember playing this for the first time on Christmas Day in 1998. Still play Medievil ALOT, favourite game of all time! The soundtrack on all 3 games are beautiful. I actually loved Resurrection but obviously the original is best. Goes without saying but loved Sir Dan in this game. Cried when I woke up to a remaster had been announced can’t wait!
I still can’t believe how people like the soulless remaster on PS4 Like here they ACTUALLY tried and made an amazing remake That’s what remakes should be about not new coats of paint Makes me sad song doesn’t rly care about medievil :( Fav game alongside with Metroid
I dont see the disney style as being the problem. It was just very poorly done in all aspects. They switched music around in the levels which made no sense and didnt fit the levels and my lord was the writing horrible.
if you collected all the chalices then you could get the ending of going to the hall of heroes =) if you didn't collect them all then you'd get the ending you're talking about
They just didnt capture the spirit of the game. Pair that with some very bad writing and some poor character dialogue and you have an abomination of a game.
I'll admit I was rather iffy with some parts of this remake, namely on the stuff that was changed....however, i will say that i liked the ending and how they kept it reasonably true to the 'all chalices' ending, and also the ending theme. Man do i love that ending theme...actually, come to think of it, i love the entire soundtrack of the game! ^^ And...assuming there is a sequel, well it makes you wander if they will remake the second game.
True, this game is a remake/reimagining of the first game and it may not capture the spirit or greatness of the first game but it is not as bad as it is already. IMO, it is just a mediocre/so-so/average kind of game as a remake to the original just like with the Sonic Adventure games on the GameCube which are way better on the Dreamcast obviously.
What did they do to this version? It looks like they've turned it into some sort of weird whimsical magic parody. I've only seen the cut scenes and such, but really. This is only my opinion, but I think they completely butchered it.
I love how whatever version of MediEvil you play; Original, Resurrection or HD Remake, the same emotion fills within you when you hear the end credits music.
No sequel, but that's okay. I never really cared for the cartooney style that deviated from the initial gothic-horror style surpassing even MediEvil II. All the more reason the original was much better and remastered version IS the best one.
whe i first saw the boxart cover for medevil I thought this guy was related to jack skellington from nightmare before christmas but now when I see him and get a good look at him he still reminds me of him
i havent played this even i can tell it doesnt capture the essence of the first they changed almost everything rewritten almost everything n replaced it with there own dialogue which doesnt work i get this game will get a lot of stick because its not the original and original is always better blah blah but even with that it just isnt right The game was simple but fun the graphics were simple but good enough the story was fantastic dan is a GREAT character but this has none of those attributes
to ultragarrison: I think you missunderstood 21 hanon. By saying "you would be given credit" he meant he will tell people you made the videos and that all he did was just putting them together...
@Kreloar Didn't add the bird, and that one-eyed guy, Al Zalam, is a Genie who was trapped inside Dan's head for 100 years. For further details, see Medievil Resurrection PSP Part 2
@ultrarast Yes I know but they can make some stupid explanation for that, for example when chatedrail colapsed he actualy didnt escape,he just fall in coma, then lord palenthorn come to find last page of zarok spell book, and he found dan too and he take him to his laboratory where they drugs him and rape, then dan wakes up after time machine scene and see his body missing, then goes to find his body and find it in a bed with dogman... xD that is only one example XD sorry for bad english
@ROMANTIKILLER2 Well I do think it's still better than Medievil 2. They tweaked much in that game but killed all Burton out of it. I also think the writing is better in this game. It knows that it's silly and gives me those nice laughs like... well. A Disney movie whould. Still miss those heads on walls though. They were fucking funny. Had me at least smiling every time.
WTF was that Sir daniel was not a coward and he could get out of that castle on his own not be saved by a god damn bug and he made back to his cript with only help from a vulture who dropped him further on and he didn't go to the hall of heroes he lies in wait for the next dark magic disturbance. thats BADASS not like this ending :(
@ROMANTIKILLER2 they surely have different styles, but they are both great games. Nowadays they don't do anymore games sooo good. It's only Halo and all the crap like that.
@ROMANTIKILLER2 i think that too... in fact i rly would love to see Medievil the movie made by tim burton...i would be AWESOME! tim burton nevet let me down
