there's so much to learn from this book, should you choose to apply its wisdom.

I think this is the best book that has ever been written. Packed with wisdom and truth. From a brilliant mind and a lion heart.

First of all, I really appreciate this channel for bringing the wisdom of great books into small capsules. And to see one of my favorite books that can be potentially life-changing for its readers is amazing. However, the interpretation of the point "Premeditation of adversity" appears to be wrong here. I think its not about deliberately inducing small doses of stress by visualizing the worst case scenario. When worst case scenarios are visualized upfront, they actually lose power and one is more likely to proceed with action. When these negative situations are not brought to awareness, they cause stress. Quite often, we suffer due to wrong estimation of the worst things that can happen.

I agree with you. It's good to be strong-minded to face any outcome. However, I find it more beneficial to visualize yourself doing well in upcoming endeavors.

Yes The video is good but it is a bit over-simplyfied and pragmatic. Stoacism and Marcus Aurelius’ philosophy is more deeper than that.

Anxiety itself comes from imagining a worst case scenario, so point one is already there. Maybe all is needed is to define it. What is that worries me? After one knows that they can say what it really is. As point there in the video - wine is just grape juice. After the anxiety has been dealt with, there's a need for a course of action. Now point two comes in. Given the context, whom character trait would you like to emulate? Is it the decisiveness of Churchill? Is there a better trait to be emulated in the given situation? That's the way to be taken.

The emotional awareness and the ability to process challenging emotions and act in an agile way is something that would enable these three practices to be trialed. My only negative on your video is comment that Spock is Cold...like, no way! Spock is emotionless yes, but he has loyalty for his friends Jim and even the Doctor (Bones) who he is often sparring with, so cold no.

I completely disagree with #3. What he's doing is setting up real problems to be strawman fallacies. Wine is not just grape juice, nor the dark just an absence of photons. Wine isn't just some alcohol either; to some, it's the first step on the road to Hell. It's important to view things objectively, but don't deceive yourself.

So I've just started dipping my toes into stoicism and I'm slightly confused by something I hope someone here can potentially help with - so I'm gathering that you need to lower the catastrophising and remove descriptive words from your mind that could exacerbate a situation and cause you to stress more, so essentially: dull your negative emotions. However, I suffer from Borderline Personality Disorder, and I'm unsure how you can do this without dulling *every* emotion, not just negative ones. How can you calm negative emotions, yet still allow yourself permission to think vivid, strong positive emotions? I'm an author by trade, so a lot of emotions are constantly vivid and strong in my mind, and I'm unsure whether I can compartmentalize "negative" feelings from "positive" feelings, without simply numbing myself to all emotions. However, I suppose I should also be asking the question of whether it's even possible for someone with BPD to practice stoicism.

I totally appreciated your content. Even better than Blinkist. I'd strongly recommend you to read about the Brave Browser on how it can help you receive tips and donations in the form of cryptocurrency through your RU-vid channel. As well as LBRY, which is project for decentralizing video content and putting content creators first.
