Welcome to Part Five of our September/October 2022 Ocean Journey, A Mediterranean Odyssey, aboard the Viking Sea. Part Five is all about the Viking Sea and is a ship tour and dining guide, along with some commentary and opinions about this sailing!

Congratulations and the best of luck, and happiness in your new position. This was our second trip aboard the Viking Sea. That video (Viking Homelands - 2019) is also posted but there is no narration. I’m currently dissecting the video into four parts, and reassembling it with some new music, narration, and commentary. Hi Joy, Thanks for watching! The cracks are showing, just a bit, in the Viking facade. However, I’m sure that as the post-pandemic recovery continues, and Viking’s revenue stream improves, along with everyone else’s, things will equalize, get better, and get caught up. I was just a bit surprised to see it as my previous take was that Viking always “sweated the details!” In any event it was a great trip overall and throughly enjoyable! Safe and Happy Travels, T

Just finished watching 1-5 of your videos on the Viking Sea.. Barcelona to Venice. We are doing this trip in reverse later this year so we were pleased someone took the time to make these videos. Found then very informative and extremely well presented. Thank you for taking the time to put them together.

Thanks for your 5 video review. I learned 2 very useful things from it: 1) Viking is the line for me 2) I always will avoid group tours where a tour bus is involved. The info regarding the wifi is especially helpful.

Will do our fourth cruise in six years (a two year hiatus during the pandemic), the third with Viking. I ALWAYS use a travel agent and have had very good results, getting recommendations for the best cabin (penthouse veranda for the extra space), extra cost excursions, and so on. As I always use frequent flyer awards to book business class air travel, I have even gotten price concessions for not using Viking's airfare deals through the travel agent. It might be worth considering for you next time.

Thanks for watching! Good advice! We are in the market for a good travel agent. Which is your airline of choice? We are in the Dallas area, so it is AA for us, and it is proving almost impossible to get upgrades despite being Platinum and having a bunch of miles in the bank :-) Our travel was also put on hold during COVID, but we are back to it now! Wonderful review! I'm just back from a trans-Atlantic aboard Viking's brand new Neptune! Perhaps the least enjoyable of my six other Viking cruises. Definitely noticed cracks in the overall service presentation. Almost no visible presence or interaction with officers. Chilly cruise director & a few taciturn bar staff didn't create a particularly warm & fuzzy feeling. It was still Viking, the positives outweighed the negatives.

Hi! Sorry I missed your comment. I could not agree more! The cruise director on our last cruise was fine if a little removed. The officers were as you described… kind of remote, with one major exception…. The Captain was very accessible and friendly. Even sometimes standing outside and greeting and making small talk with returning passengers, or stopping to say hello in the passageways of the ship! The other offers… not so much :-/ The limited interaction I had with bar stall was OK, but far from engaging. Wait staff and cabin crew on the other hand were a delight! One of my biggest disappointments was my perceived lack of crew communication and training, and just an overall feeling that corners were being cut. Travel arrangements were lackluster and it seemed they were more interested in cheaping out for a short term possible company savings instead of grooming the guest for booking another trip. We had another Viking trip booked but canceled. Next trip will be on Silversea… stay tuned for that! Thanks for watching! Happy travels! Best Regards, T
