I never ever saw anyone having this much incredible knowledge! I am literally watching your videos and ordering a lot of things and showing everyone off, that I am a very good gardener and have a lot of knowledge 🤣🤣🤣
I have just started using semi powdered rice husk with cocopeat and compost and observing plants. But potting media is looking good. It stays moist not wet and waiting to see the results.
Hi Ann, the final mixture makes sense. Thanks for the information. One question though, will this reduce the risk of mealy bugs, compared to regular soil mix? This question is because I have regular infestations in my balcony.
Hey Akhila, Mealy bugs are not because of the soil mix at all...they are attracted to high nitrogen levels and soft growth; may appear if you overwater and over-fertilize your plants.
Excellent job. Very useful for serious plant lovers. You missed two items I think. Vermiculite and LECA. Crushed LECA can be used as a substitute for garden soil.
Hey Ann.. super like to the content..very much informative..I just realised that i know or have used only 50% of mediums available 😅..just curious to know..how do you store all this in your apartment with 2 kids and a husband😅
Very useful video. However I noticed One thing you didn't cover is the traditional dried cowdung / cowdung compost which has been used in traditionally in india for ages. Hope you will cover it . Thank you
Pine bark !! I am using from some trees which are growing outside at local place. They are really good for my #Anthurium Plants, Thanks didi for all ideas👍👍😊
Good to see you after a long time. The way you explain is awesome. It goes straight into the brain. This is really helpful one. As winter is coming.. can you make video on winter care plants.
This was so informative, thank you so much. I'm a beginner in gardening and without knowing bought a bag of clay soil which I later found out was not so suitable for plants. I have been mixing it up with sand and using it. Some of my plants are doing well with it, will now try it with vermicompost as well
Would love to know your preferred sources for picking the raw materials. There are so many sellers now, that finding the right source becomes important.
I love how you go an extra mile to Do your research for explaining logics and Thank you for bringing this up, I still didn't get what cinder is exactly, hoping a video about it from you 🤞🏽
Very informative. Any suggestion on how I could I make a well draining soil mix for my indoor garden herbs. The regular potting mix with a lite perlite added isnt working. Soil is too wet, and takes a long time to dry out.
Brilliant presentation। Can you pl let us know these combination of ingredients are used for which plants,? Pl list out vegies and flowers name. Also, pl share the reliable sources of its procurements।
Very informative . Would like to hear more from you re different types of well draining substrate for indoor herb garden. Also go more indepth on soil less medium. Thanks much. New to ur channel.
Very informative...want to try different mediums especially for philos n poths... how good is it to add dried leaves crushed slightly into the potting mix? I stay at pune where monsoon times are very wet...thanks
Such a lot of super useful information . Can't help noticing your immense research and obviously solid experience . Thanks for sharing 🙏 Really helped . Happy Gardening ✨✨
Thanks Ann. I tried this mix minus peat moss and cinder. Some of indoor plants struggled in this mix and i had to shift these in water. Does any of the components need some procedure after you buy these in packets....like dry these or give a days of sun before mixing or wash and then dry in sun???Any other things?
Very informative video..👍👍...Can you please do a video on semi hydroponics using Leca, Pon, etc along with how to mix and add nutrients in a semi hydro setting?
Great informatic video mam! But i was waiting for you to show the plants kinds with each ingredient seperately,as u did for the last potting mix showing us the anthurium..i have used few abd will use the others too...thank you
Very informative video. Madam, I would like know whether I can use red soil in my potting mix for my plants like Philodendron Birkin, Alocasia Reginula black velvet, Alocasia Amazonica, Calathea Orbifolia, ZZ plant, Agloanema, Satin Pothos etc Can I add Pseudomanas too. Kindly enlighten me
Very useful information, thank you!! Pumice, perlite (as well as zeolite and attapulgite) are cheap and easy to find in my country (being one of the main exporters worldwide), pine bark is relatively available too, but coco peat isn't easy to find and coco chips are impossible to get. I haven't been able to find horticultural charcoal either, but I'm guessing if you get a good quality charcoal, it'll be ok. What's the best replacement for coco chips, in your opinion? Thank you and have a great day!!
I also use most of the soil less ingredients you've shown and add some neem khali too . The plants become healthy and greener as I do the repotting in a lesser time. Like you said, it all comes with the experience with gardening !!
Hi Ann, I had two questions regarding clay soil. 1. How does one understand when the soil needs watering? Clay soil compacts as it dries and I am not able to poke my finger inside to check the moisture in the soil. I have lost a few plants which I bought from local nurseries because of this and because I was yet to learn the cues of the plant. 2. Approximate ratio of vermicompost to clay soil would be 1:1? And can vermicompost be replqced with cow dung manure/leaf mould? Thanks in advance.
