From it’s beginning through the first decade of the this century, the evolution of the ambulance in our industry was slow moving and change was hard fought and difficult to accept. While the “K” regulations helped establish some industry guidelines for compliance, the testing requirements were more performance oriented and sales driven than based on engineering standards and testing requirements. Design and test requirements being established as a result of NIOSH research and testing and the new SAE testing standards have changed the way all ambulance manufacturers are approaching their manufacturing processes and the equipment we provide.
