Meet 1-Year-Old Who’s Allergic to Tears 

I feel so bad. She’s a toddler and can’t touch water. Who doesn’t like swimming or taking a bath at that age!? And kids her age cry a lot. Poor girl. :(((

soo if she cries, and it hurts, that will just make her cry more, and it's just an endless cycle of pain! That's so sad, and I wish the best for her treatment and well-being.

I'm SO glad she can at least drink water. That would be impossible.

I think the worst part would be learning to suppress emotions. She will grow up avoiding crying which is so psychologically dysfunctional. It’s almost like whether she holds it in or not, she is “s self harming” in a way. In addition, her relationships with everyone must be so strained. Incan’t imagine the terrible pent up feeling from both people that would come from, for example, dating (this is true with all types of relationships as well). Her partner would try not to express annoyance or frustration with her, and therefore could never sort out the problems and fix them, and she would never let her feelings out to her partner, which is one of the most important parts of bonding. I really can’t imagine. It’s so much worse than just taking baths a different way or not getting to swim with friends.

Ugh, I've heard of this condition. Some people who have it can't even drink water so they face a constant risk of dehydration. I'm glad she can at least drink it.

I can’t imagine what happens when she’s out and it rains. So sad 😞

I used to break out in hives from water…it didn’t start until I was about 17 years old and just suddenly started out of the blue…I had it for about 25 years!…I got them after showers…swimming in pools…the ocean etc…but I finally realized it wasn’t actually the water I was allergic to…it was the quick change in the TEMPERATURE that my skin reacted to…so it was the cold or hot water temperature change on my skin that I was actually reacting to and not the water…once I started to only use room temperature water it completely stopped happening…and this gave my skin had a chance to heal…in time it mysteriously finally stopped and ended almost as abruptly as when it started.

My father became allergic to water. To get better he went to an intense natural treatment in a clinic. He's not allergic anymore

I can honestly say I have never even heard that this is possible. That poor little sweetheart. I appreciate that the parents as well for taking such gentle loving care of Ivy. She is absolutely precious. I hope that some day she will simply grow out of it and she will be able to enjoy life to its fullest

I hope she meets friends that like maybe she'll go on a fieldtrip to the pool when she's in school, and I hope she has a friend that is willing to stay out of the pool for her.

One upside about this is when she gets bullied in school because of her condition, the teachers cant ignore it like most of them do. Or else they'll suffer consequences from the parents.
