Every police officer's career path is different, but Grant Keams' path started while he was just in high school when he was recruited into the U.S. Marine Corps. Transitioning to the police force for the Navajo Nation (where officers number approximately 1.9 for every 1,000 people) was easy for Grant. But let go of whatever picture you've developed in your mind of the type of person he is--because he's much more than that. Join us as we get to know Grant Keams and discover what it's like to be a police officer on the Navajo Nation.

First of all Thank you for your service! 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Second- Thank you for your service to our people. I know Grant's mom. Very nice lady. We talk everytime I travel through Artesia. I am currently the "2nd gentleman" of the Navajo Nation. My wife is the Vice President Richelle Montoya.

The Navajo Nation should have shuttles for veterans to go to VA appts. My spouse is retired and when they tried to see what there is to offer they were disappointed. Specially with the veteran homes. Biggest complaint we always hear is they don’t build them for vets right away. Vets always get it when there really old and end up passing away never really getting to live in there homes. When it comes to the younger vets I think they should build a home for them. But Navajo nation sucks at helping. Well from the area we’re at. But the best thing we’ve did before they got out is buy a home. Just wish we could live on the Rez but it’s hard to find someone to build and we didn’t want to be living with our parents while trying to find something.

I watched your video yesterday this vlog I think being in the military and being a Navajo Police officer don't go together because I'm saying that is lots of my friends went to military and lost their job being a Navajo Nation Police officer they took as a united states military where they got abused civilians I have seen it too no matter if that person is a everyday drinker that doesn't mean hit that person or kick person military soldiers are only good for to defend our country not Police officers I think this happened on the Navajo Reservation
@Spagoshi

A broad stroke / generalization over any profession doesn't give any of us enough information to decide if career overlaps is acceptable or not. Some individuals who give their industry a sour taste doesn't mean it's like that across the board. As our stats in the video show in the video, majority of military vets don't always experience PTSD / TBI / MST and most who utilize that experience in other professions is usually positive. Grant is a great example of someone who served their time and used the best part of the military and applied to the law enforcement sector. We appreciate your insight and checking out Grant's video. His next video will be out Sunday morning and dives more into philosophical look of being an officer and a community member. Ahe' hee 🤙🏾

@@Spagoshi I have cousins they went to military some some are still in military their addicted to the military some are working in pentagon so this guy is into weapons why did he leave military that's where all types weapons are there for him learn cause Navajo Nation Police Department doesn't have high tech weapons like military
@Spagoshi
@Spagoshi 9 месяцев назад
@@nealnez7729 You missed the point about the weapons part. He likes firearms, but didn't mention high tech weapons. His mos was admin & operations, which isn't focused on weaponry. He mentioned it as part of why he went into law enforcement and it applied to part of many skill sets he picked up in the military.
