Alvis is to the Monado what Pneuma is to the Aegis, but he's not exactly a blade since he left the original univese before Klaus fully developed the blade system, he is like the raw power behind blades, and unlike blades in Alrest which can only resonate with one person at a time, Alvis is legitimately in resonance with the entire world.

It's more meant to say the sword belongs to Shulk so he better use it well instead of just standing there like he previously mentioned. Alvis basically chose Shulk as his driver, so he is expecting lot of things from him.

Alvis betrayed everyone around him in 1. He ultimately helped shulk because he knew it would lead into zanza being killed; zanza was no longer useful to Alvis anymore and neither was mayneth. Ironically I think Dickson was in on the plan because of it never feels like he was truly out to get the party. "If you can't beat so-and-so, how you can you expect to beat me/zanza?" He was testing us and claims a being a martyr wasn't for him. Zanza projected his complex and power so loud and proudly that we never second guessed that he _knew_ he wasn't the true God and he 100% knew all along who actually ran things.

Turns out he had a classic splitting and he was both a good guy and evil

Alvis literally betrayed everyone over and over in 1. While he ultimately lands on Shulk's side, it would make sense even without being split in two that he would turn on him. I personally was very worried about this sort of thing when Shulk gave up the Monado's at the end of 1 due to Alvis' simulations of his friends.

The ‘Alpha’ that you see in xc3 is not the same as Alvis. The alvis from xc1 was bonded to Zanza, and later Shulk, which is what let him experience emotion and act with free will. Remember, ‘Alvis’ is the software running in the Ontos computer core After xc1, Ontos is reset and so a new program starts running, except that now it has no one to bond with, so it goes for ‘default settings’ (this is why it looks like Alvis, it has no imagination to actually design its own body). This is ‘Alpha’ the villain of xc3 fr. When grandpa uses ouroboros power on na’el he hits alpha, and releases the ‘spirit’ I.e. the memories and emotions like how in the base game partners share memories. This spirit in turn becomes A, designs a new body and the game begins. Meanwhile alpha being a machine shrugs and keeps on chugging because emotions are for meatbags.
