Please stop regurgitating the idea that these robots are at any point going to kill anyone. It's toxic, and could potentially hinder development.

It's sort of ignorant to spread this view, and i see lots of people who completely fail to understand what the AI of these machines do and what they're capable of (hint: they're a lot dumber than people think) Remember, Boston dynamics specializes in limb dynamics. Not AI. This research is incredibly valuable for better prosthetic equipment in the future - so it's a bit counter-productive to jump on the "murder robot xD" meme bandwagon, which seems to actually genuinely leave some people scared enough that they want BD to stop work on this. That's some dangerous ignorance. It's particularly depressing to see publications like CNET fall for this, but maybe they do it because they care more about clicks than actually spreading valuable information.

No, what's depressing is I got a recommended video that was published 9 days ago and was baited into clicking on it. You'd think that it's based on some new events or information in the past month or so, but it's actually just a compilation of old news from years ago. I guess CNET is trying to become the leader of "news" regurgitation?

Much sooner than 5 years! I think we get to see the AI that is years old or not enhanced, once enhanced we have a major tsunami of problems on our hands. I think "my opinion" the weapon capable AI are already in existence.
