We know that Prince, our manu uncle is a great hero and a legend ....I can't understand Why your wife ingore such a brave husband?.....she must return to you................
I am even more impressed with a royal family member who isn’t afraid to say the word adoption too. With so many orphans left by generations of pure breeding trials and errors; I think what a beautiful way to continue one’s bloodline. Many ancient people used concubines who were not from the same cultures. So bloodline continuation never has been exclusively from an exact traditional match either.
Similarly in Japan, the husband could be "invited" to be the son thus continue the last name. But this whole last name continuation business is what drove all these regardless of all must have son thing. 🙄
I am impressed by his honesty. and the story of his marriage. A great role model for everyone who struggles with the same issue. He tells his story with dignity and humour. How can you not like this man?
yes i am proud at him for being open about his sexuality & also that he wasnt afraid to talk about how indians are quick to blame the woman when marriage fails
Honestly in Mahabrata , there has been multiple accounts of LGBTQ+ community leading armies , sometimes even ruling empires. Kamasutra talks about same sex pleasure. Unfortunately we see these stereotypes , which were normal in ancient times , you can see carvings of sexual activities on many ancient temple walls , but because of the Mughal and church influence after colonization , sex became to be seen as something disgusting and the worst crimes faced were by the LGBTQ because these faith still believe it is not normal for same sex pleasure or romance . The influence left a huge cultural scar on eastern philosophies , who infact were quite liberal in these matters. Still many temples in South have still been preserved only for transgenders and others , where women and men are not allowed , to provide these people their privacy for spirituality . Many people still place trans to be as people blessed by gods, hence you see they receive invitations on birthdays or weddings to bless everyone . I do hope the conservative hindu/buddhist/jains/sikhs sometimes actually read the scriptures , to understand better ! Our scriptures support these people , infact it is written that nobody should interfere in another person's sex life or you would receive bad karma , just like you would receive bad karma if you hamper someone's food or drinking water !
@@stardust2531 for me, i dont think we should suppor these or pedophil will cme and ask fot the same rights. Just likr you said, no one should interfere in another person's sex life. he's so well aware and the level of empathy he has is emaculate, willing to sacrifice his life, his status as a prince, even people he's close with just to set an example for the youth and represent he's a true icon
What an inspiring, kind, intelligent, positive, and empathetic man. A great example of a mentor/leader. All my respect to you, Manvendra Singh Gohil. Thank you for sharing your story and having the courage to be who you are despite your background/title. May you live happily and may your goals prosper into future generations.

Adoption was always a part of Royal families in India. In fact with the Doctrine of Lapse the British East India company imposed a ban on royal adoptions which led to Queen of Jhansi leading the rebellion of 1857.

Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil seems like a very grounded and secure individual. The “town” that Prince Manvendra is referring to 20:27 is his hometown of Rajpipla, which was the capital of the former princely state of Rajpipla. Kudos to *Arjun* also for delving a bit deeper into the Prince’s story.
Hey, I remember this prince! He was on the British show, where 3 princes from 3 different parts of the world - India, Sri Lanka and Africa, lived together, worked like normal people and went on a mission to find girls/boys to marry. I loved that whole series. This guy is awesome.
Manvendra Singh Gohil is a known figure in India as a prominent LGBTQ+ representative. India is still conservative and not open to this subject. People like him are very brave to be open & frank about their sexuality. Frankly, the topic of sexuality is itself still a topic that is not talked about openly in India. I am myself a heterosexual woman, but I have watched a lot of East Asian BL dramas over the past year. These dramas have actually made me more sensitive and aware of the LGBTQ+ community and their challenges. These kinds of dramas are unthinkable in India where such a topic will either be over-hyped or hushed up in promos. There was a recent movie released (‘Badhai Do’) which was based on the topic of a gay man having a social marriage with a woman for the sake of his career and society. Acting was not cringe-worthy and quite believable. Indian dramas & movies have years to get to the levels as Thai, Japanese or Korean BL/GL dramas. I personally feel that if more good quality dramas/movies are produced on the subject there will be more open discussion and awareness. As a mother to a 13yr old daughter, it kind of blew my mind when she suddenly, very calmly, informed me that 2 of her friends (who are girls) were “Bi”. I asked her whether she knew what that meant, and she said Yes! it means that her friends liked both girls & boys, although she felt one of them was more Lesbian than just Bi. These girls are in my daughter’s close group of friends. She is very cool about it and accepts them as they are. She is still too young to fully understand relationship dynamics, but the fact that she is aware this type of sexuality identity exists reminds me about the power of digital information & social media. It also tells me that the younger generation is more open in their outlook and ideology. They are more aware of their individuality and more accepting towards others - I personally feel this kind of thinking is not bad for society. To have such a conversation was, and still is, unthinkable with my mother. She did tell her father as she said he would react in a negative manner. As a mother, I still dream of a traditional white wedding with a handsome son-in-law for my beautiful daughter. However, with an ever-changing society I just don’t know, and therefore am keeping an open mind to any possibility in the future.
I'm glad to know that east Asian BL dramas have such a powerful reach. Thanks for letting us all know. My wife is a Thai trans women we're legally married in California. The world sure is a lot smaller than it used to be thanks to the internet.
@@exnihilo415 East Asian BL dramas are all different in their approach. However, what is common in them is that they talk about issues and the story includes LGBTQ+ people in a way that does not appear forced; so, seeing them in a drama or portraying a certain role is not out of the normal, especially once one has seen more than a few BLs. Additionally, the dramas do not in anyway give out a vibe that is very different from a regular drama - it just so happens that the main love-story is between 2 guys / girls. This kind of normalisation is something that I am yet to see in Indian media. Thai dramas are the most inclusive, when it comes to including members from the LGBTQ+ community in their dramas. I am currently totally hooked to ‘KinnPorche’, like million others. Their production house, ‘Be on Cloud’, is showing an interview with a university professor & talking about LGBTQIA+. This kind of open showcase by an extremely popular production house will definitely help. Korean, Japanese & Taiwanese tend to be more gritty and about real-life situations. I have rarely seen a transgender character in any of their dramas - but their dramas are not over-dramatic, like Thai BLs, especially campus stories, tend to be. I got to hear the term ‘asexual’ and generally get a better understanding of it from a Japanese GL drama. My favourite however is ‘Life-Love on the Line’ - movie version.
Same here. East and Southeast Asian BL dramas had a positive impact on my outlook towards LGBTQIA+. Especially Thai and Japanese dramas. Growing up I had a negative outlook towards the community. I may not have been outright demeaning but I didn't have a positive feeling either. In 2012/13 my sister asked me to watch a Thai Lesbian movie starring Aom Sushar and Tina Suppanad called 'Yes or No'. Initially I declined as I was not comfortable with the topic. She convinced me to give it a try. I'm glad I did because it changed my perspective on the LGBTQ+ Community. Through the movie I realized that our orientation may be different but the feelings and emotions are same. Also, a friend of my friend is gay and he had a big fat crush on a guy and shared his feelings with us. He behaved exactly like any of us would with a crush (ofcourse!! Pftt what was I expecting. In retrospect I think it was foolish of me to expect anything different). It helped me to witness it from close quarters. That solidified my belief that we're no different irrespective of one's gender preference (apologies if I stand politically incorrect). Since then I'm trying to be more open-minded and see myself as an ally. Things are changing for good. My 15 yrs old brother is a huge fan of Troye Sivan and it doesn't matter to him (not that it should) that he's a gay man. He gets ridiculed by his friends but he stands up for what he believes in and Infact try and teach them to keep an open mind. I feel damn proud to see him advocate the for LGBT+ community while educating himself more about the community.
@@jdorak I'm so glad to know someone who appreciates Life-Love on the line. I thought the series was good but the movie was even better. It's one of my all time favorite movies. I still think about the movie. It was beautifully made. It's not often I come across a person who thinks it's a memorable movie. Also, huge fan of KinnProsche. Every actor has done a wonderful job. My personal favorite is apo. Mile is a bias-wrecker though.
@@ririsharon4652 This thread is slowly but surely moving away the main topic of this video. However, to reply to you, the movie version is ANY day better than the series version. It gave the ending the beautiful love story deserved. The movie version is what got me going back to start looking up more BL content and VIKI had quite a bit that time; that’s how I got into watching BLs. In KP … Nobody beats Mile - I automatically smile whenever he comes on the screen!! However, Ep 10 got my attention to Build. I was super impressed by his acting in that episode.
In india we don't have anything like your majesty or highness. It can be more like hello prince with a bow - in the past. So that's why in modern day it's just hello. Adding a sir at the end because in India if someone is in a higher position than you or supirior or just some celebrity we don't call them by their name. We can't address them with hello uncle/ brother like we usually address people to show respect here since it's too casual. So it's Hello sir. Sorry for the long reply.

Being Gay is harder in American than in India. We're not driven by Abrahamic fanaticism, here people simply don't care what OTHER people do with their lives that does not concern them unlike in America.
I remember he was on a British docu-type show, trying to meet a partner. There were a number of men who were not used to dating and they felt awkward about it.
What a wonderful man 💕 I can’t believe how brave he was to come out knowing full well he would be targeted for it. I wish him the best 💕 great video to watch during pride month :)
Hello Sam u are so right. Liked i said in my previous comment i really hope that with his confession admitting that he is a GAY despite of him being a prince this is an EYE opener.
many indian people mostly correlate LGBTQIA and rainbow flag and stuff like that as western influence and they are perceived as woke and too distant by indian society. The only way forward is to aware people in vernacular with examples like khajuraho temples, shiva recarnation, like how hijra community (transgender) in india are considered lucky and closer to God but still are out casted. The only way forward is to make people aware with relatable things. India has a long history when never for once a person was killed for being homosexual but there is a stigma. Things will improve eventually.
The future is interesting to have a prince that is gay, it is important to be who you want to be , you are a very strong individual who knows want he wants

There seems to be an elegance to royalty, this man is a prince, it's apparent. I could tell immediately, upon the young gentleman request for a tour. This is sort of inappropriate, not the sort of thing to ask when you first meet a prince! Nevertheless, I could see the prince collected himself, and without snobbery or any sense of entitlement, said yes and moved forward. So I found this very enjoyable, I liked it. it was a good interview.

It gives air, I would like to experience visiting a palace one day, India is a country I really want to see, I want to get lost in their palaces, their clothes, their culture.🌸
