I’m Hmong from the USA 🇺🇸. it’s nice to see your video of Hmong people in Laos. There are actually a lot of Hmong there but they live more out in the rural area where they mostly farm. They are always friendly and welcoming. Say Nyob zoo, pronounced like (gnaw shawng) meaning HI.

I know you are inundated with comments and this is an old video. Just could not pass this one without saying how important your content is. You are maybe the only person filming these people by just spending honest time with them. Every time I watch your films I learn so much. RU-vid is full of influencers selling travel and living “tourist lives”(canned versions of the reality of those locations). Your films are watched by many people, and you probably do understand, but if not, please know how important your messages are, even when not intended. Your voice is rare and I hope you continue with this, realizing the potential you have to make a significant impact for foreign understanding about the people from countries you visit. And maybe the way we might all chose to travel and learn in the future.

It’s so funny; When I lived in Shanghai, the people told me that I could spot the Chinese minorities by them wearing funny hats! Hmong were Chinese originally and moved to Laos to escape persecution by the Han!

Saying "mhong" is more polite than saying "mail" which is like saying the "n" word to black people.

Truth is Hmong adapt to whatever current place that they are in from China to Thailand to America. Before they got to southeast asia it was not bushcraft houses they became nomadic farmers that were moving 1 side of the mountain to another populating only mountains but were always farmed, each government espically after the war pressured them to change and move off the mountain telling them where to live and build things. The lack of gettting jobs like the national nationalitys citizens they populate they can't buy things like them and usually try to sell they're sewings.

It’s not H-mong. It just pronounce Hmong, H is silent.

By the way, there are two dialects of Hmong in Laos, so it differs how you pronounce "Hmong," in each. In Hmong White (Hmoob Dawb), there is a subtle "h" sound with the "mong" and there is more of a nasal pronunciation. In Hmong Leng (Moob Leeg), there is no "h" sound, and it is just pronounced "Mong."
