well for people like me who live in greece or any other country with very high taxes for a 2.000cc car the fiesta ST is the only logical option. but this is a huge upgrade since the old polo generation

Thanks man! Great video! I've had my Polo GTI for some months now and I really love it. To be honest it was a bit of a step down, as I had a Golf GTI before that. Still, although Fords are really good cars and fun to drive, I just don't like 'em. Don't like the looks and I don't like the brand itself, so I'd never buy a Fiesta ST. I really like the looks of the Polo GTI though, especially from the front, from the back it lacks a bit of excitement. I totally agree on the interior, I think it's a LOT nicer than the Fiesta design-wise, anyhow the quality of the materials on the doors is extremely cheap - that is what annoys me the most about this car, it's a constant reminder that you have a cheaper car than a Golf. Apart from that - great fun and value for money. :-)

It will be better made, have a much higher quality interior, and poses a higher specification. As for outright handling, its anyones guess, whether the Polo Gti rivals the Fiesta ST. One thing is sure, the Polo has the nicer interior.

I have a 2019 Polo Gti, bought quickly as a second car, but it is now one of my favorite cars day to day after more powerful Golf R and Renault Meganas RS 270- The Polo is performance car in real world, a family car, and every day driver, with a 2 lt engine on the Motorway /Péage a GT car - so don’t listen to the reviews- it is a brilliant car

Do you know the date of the first registration ? Does the Polo GTI in your video have the particle filter or is it the old engine without the particle filter ( 2017-2018)?

A pattern emerges with the reviews of the Polo GTI. Nearly all bashes the Polo for being boring over the Fiesta ST, which it is to a degree. But that alone is probably not a deal breaker for a whole lot of people. The ST has a much worse looking interior, its probably not that fun being a passenger, its infotainment is much worse and it much too stiff to drive on a daily basis. If you only care about no compromises mini hothatch - then the Fiesta is a good choice, but i feel like the general majority that would want a daily commute car with sporty features would want a car that is equally pleasing to drive to work, as it is on a roadtrip to the alpes.

I have this new polo. Had it for a month now. 3 have to "options" are (cause they are options and not standard) is the sports+ suspension, the 18" wheels (same as the ones on the current golf Gti mk7.5) and the full leather seat pack (which makes a hell of a difference to the interior) and the active info virtual clock display. This car is quick and from traffic light to traffic light it will sit neck and neck with a mk7 Gti.......it also has better launch control than the golf for some reason lol. It will not let the mk7 Gti golf run away from it either only on the long roads out of town the mk7 Gti will only start pulling away from it at around 225kph. Heres a link to another RU-vid vid that shows the polo Gti vs a golf mk7 Gti and you will see that this polo does not let the mk7 run away from it. (Ik this cause I have tried this on a track day with a friend with a mk7 Gti (also DSG ) and it yielded the same results). Oh and if anyone says "oh well a manual golf Gti would do better"....well lol it's actually a lot worse than the DSG. the st isn't cheaper in my country england plus the polo is the better looking car and it has a better touchscreen and infotainment system, the one in the st looks weird.

You didn’t expect a facelift to look completely different surely. Also MK5 is heaps better.

Owned my ST for 3 months now. The ride is very good for longer journeys, yes its firm but perfectly balanced for sport/daily uses. And the exhaust sound is so sporty and loud, loving it. I went with 5-doors for practicality. My car: i.postimg.cc/2SH2MptL/IMG-20190119-133751.jpg

Hate how they redesign the whole car and then just throw on exactly the same steering wheel as the previous car.

To own...polo...to drive ST.

The Fiesta ST is only available as a manual and I don't like that.

The Fiesta is to hardcore for daily driving.
