I started Bloodbiking during lockdown, passed my advanced test and have now been doing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You will not meet a more dedicated and passionate group of people, I'm very proud to be a small part of helping out, especially in these tougher times. Ride safe all, last night here in the UK was scary conditions 👍
tried to start a motorcycle medic program in nyc years ago. harley davidson was even willing to donate the bikes. But the dummies at EMS refused the offer. so much for saving lives.
I am full of admiration for these people . I see them going on the M4 in the rain and cold , and all for no wages , when they could make money as dispatch riders . they are amazing
I’ve been doing this ever since my region started up a group and now I can take my love of riding motorcycles and hopefully now make a difference doing it.
Hello I am a teacher from Bradford. I am creating an educational video for young people teaching them about the importance of our amazing emergency services and why they must be respected. Please could I use some of this footage with crediting of course?
More like the tories who are deliberately running down the NHS so they can sell it off. Then we will be as bad off as the Americans with their godawful system.
A very worthwhile cause for these bikers, they should get at least some type compensation, even if they got something back on petrol, very best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia.
From what I understand, they are now allowed to use their blue lights but only when a doctor/surgeon has cleared it (or will take responsibility for it) as a life or death situation.
They are allowed blues but only it it's life or death. They still have to obey the speed limit though, which kind of cancels out the point of blues, they're currently trying to get permission to break speed limits if they're on blues so they can use the same laws as ambulances and other emergency service vehicles. Not sure how far they've gotten with that though.
Most of us don't want to use blues & twos - in many cases sirens distract the average driver and they end up being more of an obstacle when they freeze up. We can make excellent progress on the bikes without the need for lights and sirens - pretty much everyone moves over for us when they see the liveried bike in their mirrors. Some of the groups do use blues, but mine doesn't , and I didn't volunteer to ride like that, it's not necessary.
Epic Walrus the amount of training, both initially and for recertification, would preclude most of us from keeping it up - we're all volunteers, and we simply wouldn't have the time to be able to complete the blue light training. We're all advanced riders, and we can get around most traffic perfectly well without needing blue lights and breaking speed limits. If something is life threatening, they use ambulances rather than Blood Bikes.
