Dachshunds are absolutely GREAT, They have such a happy free spirit, and are so loyal, they love to be held, kissed, and you tell them that they are the Best. Seriously, they believe you and understand, such loving dogs, Full Of Energy ........The Best !!

Dachshunds are totally underrated.

I had a 7 lb red little wiener dog named Stella. She never was one bit of trouble the entire time I had her. She never barked unless somebody was at the door which was useful anyway. It always amazed me with her little legs she could jump up on my bed that was almost 3 ft off the ground. She was absolutely most loving wonderful little thing you could ever imagine The only thing better was the girl that owned her. It's been 15 years and I still miss that dog everyday. I still dream about both of them almost every night. Makes it very difficult to get over.

I've had them most of my life. No better dog in my opinion. Smart, loyal, friendly, feisty and stubborn as mules. I love them💖💖

the "dachshund is a big dog in a little dog suit" describe my doxie, Max, perfectly. I walk my dog at a wildlife management area where we meet a lot of "field dogs" the retrievers, pointers, spaniels who are much larger, faster and have energy to burn. Yet, Max mixes it up with them, the playing and chasing. Max can't catch those dogs, but he sure as hell tries and he doesn't let the bigger dogs try to bully him either. I like his boldness.

I just lost my dachshund of 14 years on wednesday he was such a good boy. His name was pretzel I could not have asked for a better dog. I got him was I was 6 and now I am 20. I had some great years with this dog he was loyal and would stick by your side when things got tough. I would recommend this breed to anyone because I loved my guy and I sure you guys do to RIP Pretzel I love you buddy.

Dachshund is the only breed I'd ever own.

I never know much about dachshund except that they are the 'sausage', and suddenly i had to raise one because my cousin abandoned his. So I adopted him. Must be one of the best decision of my life.

Doxies are the ultimate mix of pure love, spoilt, intelligence and cute. Their confidence is cute, they seem to have no idea of their size. best breed ever

Once you go dachshund, no other breed will do For the first time in my life I have a song dedicated to " Holly", our beloved doxie that we had to put to sleep Music usually reminds you of past loves of the opposite sex.. I don't even think a human can give that type of unconditional love.

Dachshunds are spoiled????? heck mine has spoiled me terribly. Why? I'm disabled and she has trained herself to be a service dog. I take no credit for her training. She did it on her own.

I loved mine more than was safe. Miss them terribly. They are everything this video states and more.

They rule me, I cannot hide from them, I cook for them and drive for them and I play with them. I am their slave!

i have a smooth coat miniature dachshund and YES, big bark, In your face, and Bold/AND YES shameslessly bold, he thinks hes the biggest dog ever. But he is very loyal to me. and that was all i needed :)

All of these women remind me of my mother! She loves her 14 year old Dachshund soooo much!

I have a doxie of 3yrs from the SPCA. Had him 6 months. very hard to train. He's the best I've ever own. Great with my disabled grandson. He watches him like a hawk. If he wonders or get into trouble, He barks untill i go and get him. He won't leave his side. It just was natural for him to take care of my grandson. We're very lucky to own him

I share my life & my heart with a 6 lb. mini-doxie, Oskar. I adore the breed. I have owned many dogs, of many breeds, and our dogs are members of our family. This little Guy, what a personality! No dog has ever owned my heart like a mini-Doxie! :)

I have five miniature short haired Dachshunds. Three females and two males. I love them so much!

NEVER did I imagine owning one. Wasn't even a dog fan. 6 years later, I couldn't imagine not having him. They are unbelievable!! As for those who say they are hard to train.....I have mine pad trained and to go outside. Wasn't that difficult. Was trained fully within weeks. He does not go on anything but his pads or outside. He is such a joy with so much love and devotion. Comical too!!

I LOVE my Mini, She is by far the most precious dog I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with! Lucy is an amazing little girl. She is just too cute and Loving and very protective. I Just can't say enough good things about her. She gets along super with my other two Labs whom are both older but she is just great with them. She also is best buds with our cat Tank and also loves our five horses. She is just simply Amazing!!!!

I have 3 Minis 2 boys and a girl, B/T. They are the best dogs. Very loving, good watchdogs. They really love to eat, they would eat all day if I let them. They bring us joy everyday!

I had A Boston Terrier and Doxie mixed... He was soo adorable... he had the long body with the longer leg and a mix of both in the face.. he was so loyal and fun... I miss my buddy soo much.

We have had four doxies. Three smooth and currently, a longhaired. We love them all. Best dog for us and all of ours are excellent swimmers and are fearful of water.

I haven't seen another breed that has the expressive facial expressions that dachshunds have, very expressive, very attentive. Some say they are not good with kids. They are good with kids that are part of the family, but are not good with kids who are strangers.

@gollapr Dachsies are great. First I didn't even THINK having one, but after I had my first mix dachsie and later got one from the shelter I was hooked. I prefer the lonhaired medium sized, but that of course is totally personal. I love their characters and somehow I know how to handle them. I don't have problems with them not listening to me and my dogs even stand next to my chickens and share food with them. My youngest had a bunny friend!!

Dachshunds are superb dogs for taking on hikes, as long as they are first conditioned, much as people must be. They are small hounds and they are made to track and hunt small game; they're very well suited to this and like most hound breeds they TROT, not run, but trot along. My dog pulled me along on my bike; it built him up beautifully; he was one, big glowing muscle until he was into his teens; it was horrible putting him down; he was a very fine dog.

In Germany they also are referred to as "Dackel"

Good to know about the vocalizations we found a Long haired Dachshund puppy and a Chihauhua puppy a few days ago we had been keeping them in a crate as the Dach would bark and make a gurgling growl at our dogs. And yeah he barks at everything and he really likes watching my rat and birds lol. I have finally introduced him to my dog but he still makes that gurgling growl i have finally realized that he is just noisy not being aggressive.

I have a Doxie that's half short hair / wire hair. ADORABLE. LOVE HIM!!!

Great video....made me cry...I lost my mini last Easter and she was my soul mate and best friend. Her name was Lucy...if anyone has one that needs a great home in Jackson/Madison, MS area I would love to know....I miss her so much and would not have any other breed. She was a sweetheart and the vet's office said she was their favorite!!

1 thing ive noticed about the dachshund is its a breed that sort of grows on you! when I was a kid I had a friend who thought they were the greatest.i have a neighbor who gave his daughter a dachshund for Christmas,and she just loves it! my parents have a mini dachshund my sister gave them and that dog sort of grew on me.i live alone and drive truck for a company who doesn't allow dogs in the truck,but when the time comes that I can get a dog,im very seriously considering a dachshund,i sort of like that breed now that ive gotten to know the neighbor girls' dachshund,plus found the 1 my parents own to be a very loyal friend. I think if I do buy a dachshund ill probably get a long haired 1 however,because I live in Idaho where we get some cold winters!
