I love ducks, but my husband made the mistake of getting a kitty pool . He called them pigs with feathers. Because they would make so much of a mess . I laughed at him because all he had to do was take away the pool but he insisted they had to have water to swim in. 😂 Constance your garden is doing so well. So happy Mr Smith will be coming home. The black ones look like Indian Runner to me. So pretty and great bug eaters! lol Your garden boxes are looking good. All the best.

My Cayuga ducks are blue black, kinda like a bottle fly. When the light hits their feathers the color sort of changes, they are also comparable in size to my Rouen ducks. I think your dark ones are Runners and the light ones are Appleyards, as you said. After you harvest the seeds from those Zucchini you can grate the flesh and freeze (or freeze dry) it for use in breads, frittata's etc

There are ducks that don't need the water and do not make a mess. You will have to google it. I love ducks too. Thank you for sharing. Our grocery store was selling the skinny sunflower like you showed for over $10.

Oh, l do love ducks! Yours are so cute. And l love the way the leader (drake?) called the others to have a drink... l will have to build an enclosure, and see what l can get locally. Last summer, l only grew two cucumbers, but didn't find them until far into autumn... erff!! So they will provide my seed for planting in October, when we are clear of frosts here in Oz. Praying for some more rain for you. Nice and gentle, with a cool breeze... Pleased to report that we had excellent rain for 32 hours on the weekend, but not widespred, so prayers for the farmers who are still suffering (for the second year!), would be appreciated. Some have already let their sheep in on the crops. (Why pay for feed, when you have wheat, barley, oats that you don't expect to gain enough height to harvest, out there, in the paddock...) Sad to see. Anyhow, it's encouraging to see that your garden has done well, considering what it had to recover from at the start! Love and hugs from Australia, for you and yours. XX00 😊🫂❤🙏✝️🌻🌻🌻🫖☕

I just love your garden. I live in northern Nevada and our soil is literally sand and is a real challenge when it comes to growing anything. I love ducks, my guess on the black ducks are runner ducks.

I would love to see you grow hollyhocks. They attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. They are edible, and can be used to treat ulcers and indigestion. I’ve always had them and love seeing them.

Let’s make a deal - if either one of us ever gets a large established lavender, we’ll meet in Fort Smith and exchange a start. I’ve struggled to get that one going too. When I was in Israel they had HUGE bush sized lavenders and rosemarys. I know they like sandy soils..

I love ducks, they are very cute to me. I get a rash on my arms from tomato leaves, I can eat them no problem, it's just the leaves..

They have one that we let them swim in occasionally. Once they’ve moved to their permanent location, they will have it all the time. Right now they have these pans, which they do swim in. This is just their grow-out pen.

I have some tall sunflowers growing in my veggie garden and the strangest thing the other day; I came out and every flower was gone, completely gone, not a petal to be seen??? Just stems standing tall. Like something bit off the tops. Not a flower on the ground, not a petal. Some of the flowers were very large. My husband thought squirrels but the stems were not pulled down. Fenced garden, not deer. Who knows. I was upset to say the least. My friend said birds but how could they carry them away? Mystery. Your asparagus plants look great!😘🙏🏻❤✨

That's so strange- the same thing just happened to me. Every year we have a while slew of Sunflowers that grow due to the birdfeeders we keep filled with the black oil sunflower seeds, and they drop to the ground and sprout every single year. The other day I went out and there were many of the heads completely taken off. Bo sign of any petals either. I looked it up online and it did mention deer and squirrels will eat them. We do have a small wooded park near us and though we're in the city here in NW PA we have seen them in the middle of the night in our front and back yard so I'm assuming it was them. But this hasn't ever happened before.

@@GraceGrantedBeliever so weird right? I don’t think it was deer. I have a fence and they haven’t ever gone into the garden. Plus most of my sunflowers were very tall, like 6 feet or more. I don’t think a deer could reach even if standing on back feet without damaging the sunflower stalks. Really bizarre😳😳😳

Cute ducks! I just watched a wonderful vlog of yours from 2018 (or maybe 2019) called What I am studying now and a devo.
