Just started down the solar path here in southern IL. We oversized our system to account for future battery backup, any system degradation, and "bad weather". We average 11,600 kWh/year or about 35 kWh/day. Our home faces east/west and includes our Tesla. We kept tweaking our system and finally settled on 31 405-watt Q Cell panels with 31 Enphase IQ8A inverters which he called a 12.5 kWh system generating 14,500 kWh annually 3K more than our average. Our utility still offers "one-to-one" Net Metering. Leaning toward the Tesla PW3 or Enphase 5Ps. Two reasons we are holding off for 12 to 18 months, the new PW3 with LFP chemistry or Enphase bundling 3 5Ps to create a 15P unit.
@@nbigroup-2690 You are talking nonsense and there is a world outside the US. Greetings from Europe where I’m currently in our cottage with solar, and no grid connection. Solar is very popular as it provides sufficient energy for a fridge, lights, refrigerator and so on. No one says that you have to go solar 100% from day one. Cold countries will always have a combination of solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear but up to 70% from the energy can an will come from renewables.

Basically all enphase micro inverters except the new IQ8 are operational only in ongrid mode. To make the system off grid you need have IQ8 micro inverters
