Economy & lack of commitment likely the biggest reasons. Although I am pretty sure the dog abandonment cases numbers in Indonesia is nowhere near or as big as in the west like USA or even another sea countries like Thailand, Philippines, etc.

I'm an Indian too and it's so depressing to watch many of them sick and close to death. Some people here are against feeding stray dogs. I've seen our kind abusing them.

I thought what Mother Teresa did is because in india human child is astray, neglect, and abandon by the parents.

Well their religion has nothing to do with this at all. Most indo people even avoid dogs cause it is haram.

eh ... most muslims in Indonesia don't keep/pet dogs, let alone abandoning it. This dog abandoning cases likely from the christian people in Indonesia, especially amid CV19 pandemics & most likely have nothing to do with religion itself as economy is very clearly the biggest reason for it.

@@sempraktis1597 bukan mbak ya, saya dari madura, di tempat saya dulu anjing liar tuh kalo tengah malem sampe subuh tuh sering lewat rumah sekarang udah jarang karena udah diburu sama orang, ganggu katanya, kalau serigalanya juga diburu soalnya (mitosnya ya) serigala itu suka manggil hantu lokal sini jadi ya gitu. Btw mbak/masnya dari indo mana?

@@starsinthesky1433 I feel you Mbak, aku juga ngerawat banyak kitten yang berkeliaran sendirian di sekitar rumah. atau kalau lagi jalan malah nemu kitten sendirian itu pasti aku bawa pulang (biasanya ngeong ngeong heboh banget, dan emang gada emaknya). Papaku sering banget against my decision untuk rawat mereka, dan kadang kucingku ditendang/dipukul kalau mereka agak berulah T^T. Ya gimana yaaa... mereka cuma kucing, gada akal pikiran kayak manusia. Kalau aku bisa sekolahin mereka biar ngerti menjalani hidup seperti manusia mah udah aku sekolahin :D.

@@nzrockboi Hello! I'm an Indonesian myself, well let's just say, it's not 'cruel' it's about the 'culture'. I'm not saying that ALL of the Indonesia's tribes' cultures are bad (you can't really measure it, there are total more than 600 ethnic groups in Indonesia! If i'm not mistaken of course lolol the point is there are hundreds here) since we have a lot of tribes here and every one of them has different culture than eachother. You see through all over the world there are many bizzare and 'strange' culture in various ethnics, so the same goes with the monkey case. Probably---my guess---it's because of the tribe's religious views on it or even because of that's the 'habit'?/one of the 'traditional' meal from generation to generation (the absurd practice may even start from a looong time ago for it to become the tribe's culture!). It's very harming and endangering the monkeys who live within the area where those people who practice that culture reside, of course (and also like ew eating raw monkey brain what the f-). But, for some people who basically grew up in that kind of environment, it's a... Normal thing. Like u eating ur chicken- It's f-ed up for me and I wish they'd stop :( but don't worry! There's a hope! I think now because of the advanced globalisation, people from any tribe---even from the deepest depth of the jungle---with absurd practices within their culture will start to learn which part of their culture is acceptable according to nowadays moral ethic. And eventually, they will leave all of those outdated 'cruel' practices of their culture to fit the modern era scenarios without having to erase the tribe's culture and history completely. That's it! Well the process for the monkey is sickening enough. My friend told me that her uncle once bring her to see that kind of food. she told me that the monkey will be strap in to something caged like thing and leaving the crown area shaved and exposed. When it is ready to be eaten..they chopped of that area for the brain to exposed, then (while the monkey is still alive) they suck off the brain using a straw. and the monkey will....well, you can imagine the cruelty. My friend is shocked to the bits. it's still haunts her until now But, i believe most of people here don't like that kind of food, maybe only handful of peoples had the guts to eat it. The opposite for the dogs though..the interest for the dish ( lapo ) is quite high. As @Roslynn Blue said..the country is full of different ethnicity and tribes ( we have more than 300 ethnicity ), so of course some area will have something like "extreme" dish ( i've seen people eating bats, snakes, etc ). and Animal activist is kinda growing in here, so maybe in the future there will be no more that kinda story *fingers crossed..
