I am seeing a Y split walkway, if they keep going down their "pay for service" route, they will fail and Microsoft, Sony or Acer will take Alexas and Echo Devices place.

After developing a few Alexa skills, it does feel like high time somebody makes Alexa smarter

I can pay for a more better Alexa if it is Good

Sometimes she makes me want to scream. So if they can improve it, i'm willing to pay

will the installed smart speakers be able to use this upgraded Alexa?

I am not going to pay extra! If Alex is not getting better it will be replaced. I am 1000% sure that there will be a couple of Chat GPT based smart speakers and I dont see how Amazon can compete with that! So yeah if they dont want to crash/trash their whole Alexa and Echo brand, they need to get Chat GPT on Echo speakers and to Alexa! They should stop wasting money on their own AI stuff and find a way to make it free! Because why would I pay even 1 buck for AI, while Chat GPT is free right now.

They should just intregrate chat gpt, thats it stop fighting rhe unbeatable, and make it for free.
