That is probably one of the best looking modern cars, I really hope this goes into production as I feel there is a distinct lack of convertible EV's. I honestly think an EV with the roof down would actually be fun to drive

It's a very Swedish sportscar. And that's not a bad thing. It makes it incredibly unique in a market of sameness. Its angular like old Volvos but uses the stright lines in a unique way to give it dynamism; like the raking roofline.

Polestar's most beautiful design yet, imo. With sustainability comes a certain expectation of responsibility though, raising an uncomfortable question. Producing a kinda luxury sports car convertible for the few that can afford and prioritise this type of vehicle in their lives… Is that the emission you want to prioritise when you want to lower emissions overall? Maybe it's worth it, to create a stellar and attractive electric car like this, just to inspire us all, and make waves in the industry?

Not sure if Polestar has the guts to build a swaggering flagship of a convertible. They are a rolling expression of engineer's driving heart and soul. But they sell in more exclusive volumes. Glass roof convertibles are not for average OEM's but only for virtuoso teams of engineering geniuses with vast legacy experience crafting fast, reliable and aerodynamic roadsters, like Mercedes SL.

@@donadzii2258 I was talking about how the car looks, not about how practical it is. It's a 3 door convertible sports car... what do you expect? If u need more practicality, don't get a 3 door convertible. As for the "vertically challenged people" comment he made, it was a joke on how little leg room there is in the back, you don't need to make sense of it. And he didn't say "vertically challenged people with long legs", just "vertically challenged".

The Polestar 1 is almost priced the same as a Huracan and is extremely overpriced and normal. This would probably cost 2x more than that.

The designers come from Volvo. I don't think Polestar is trying to make their cars look that much different than Volvo. They're different. But you can see Volvo and Polestar are cousins and the designers confer with each other on their designs.

I love the whole Polestar company ethos I been driving a Polestar 2 since October 2020 and it's awesome. Will be ordering a Polestar 3 as soon as it becomes available later this year ⚡👍🏼

China will built it and export it to Europe and UK. Tables are turning and automotive sector will be dominated by China. Their quality has improved considerably.

Polestars won't only be built in China. The Polestar 3 for the North American market will be made in the USA at a Volvo factory. Volvo is building a new factory in Slovakia and they may build Polestars there as well. Some Polestars will be built in China, some in other locations. But the cars are Swedish engineered and designed all with head funding by Geely Holding. There is also development of Polestar in England.

Totally agree! Tesla to me has taken its exterior design cues from an 80s Ford Taurus, and the original Toyota Prius to create the ugliest soapbar of all.

The Polestar One was already an incredible sportscar. And the criticisms were unfair considering the low production volume and the reasonable price for the performance, luxury *and* design on offer. This seems like it could be a great spiritual successor. Really hope they make this!

@Bowie Well a Continental GT cost way more and is slower, more common and not as good looking imo. The interior has more leather but I for one don't really care about that.

@@TD1237 - As someone who prefers vegan materials, I would pay extra to NOT have leather! That’s one of the nicest aspects of Polestar IMO. I never understood the obsession with leather: it’s hot, it’s sticky, and it damages easily. Cloth interiors all the way!!

Beautiful car, that’s a way to inject excitement into EV motoring that no one has ever really thought of. It’s all well and good chasing speed and performance, but one can crack as big a smile and have the time of their life, just cruising around in a luxury convertible. If a production version comes along and it’s priced reasonably well, so long 4 Series!

Man... that's a cracking looking piece of automotive design...! Absolutely sensational. As others have said already, the marketplace needs more variation of EVs... not just the raft of over-sized, over-indulgent SUVs. I kinda think MINI have missed a trick, here - unless there are some structural-bracing changes that would prevent this, you'd have thought it'd have been a relatively 'simple' job to have re-plumbed the EV bits from the MINI Electric 3dr in to the MINI Convertible...??? What a great little car that'd be...! 😎

Great looker. The only downside for me is the camera "door mirrors" on stalks, they need to find a way to incorporate them discretely into the body. I wonder when Google will start polluting the screens with adverts

I love it! A little bit to tall..imo. but to house the batteries and hard top in such a small car you probably have to make up for it in vertical space. Slanted roof reduces the effect somewhat. Very Nissan -Nismo looking

Polestar has already produced 2 concept cars, the 1 and 2 and the 5 will be the Precept. The Polestar 5 looks more like the Precept than the Ioniq 6 looks like the Prophecy. A lot of makers have made production versions of concept cars but Polestar's actually look close to the concept cars. Lynk and Co. made what is now the Zeekr001. It looks a lot like the Lynk and Co concept car.

I think polestar would do better if they used the Volvo badge most people want a name they can trust . with Tesla it works cause they were first rot market so most people trust them. But I do like polestar cars

Finally a truly modern design that doesn't look like all the other EVs out there. It looks hyperfuturistic without looking either cheesy or derivative, and it's just plain cool! I hope Polestar (Volvo) decides to make this a production model, because this would be one of the coolest cars out there PERIOD. Whoever the designers are, great job! This is a sexy EV looking right towards the future! It almost looks like what a Bang and Olufsen car would be if they decided to make a car instead of just high-end consumer electronics, aka minimalistic and ergonomic - typical modern Nordic design (which is a good thing).

Nope they will never make it. Or the range will be 89 miles. The polestar was a promising platform that seemingly has been a failure from the start. WHY? WHY? They have the capability, but they waste it. They make promises but they charge outrageous prices for mediocre cars. Tesla makes them look slow with stupid short ranges, but volvo seems to go for blingy things a drone? Give me a break. Extra lights that flash and bling has been done for almost 10 years on the teslas now. Its nothing new any longer. Come on Volvo you have the power. Lets get it done. OH and as far as recyclable, smart cars can be totally 100 percent recyclable since 2008. That makes Volvo 15 years behind now.
