They have taken a year and a half to legislate on half of the 2024 budget and they still have half of the 2024 budget to complete... It would be a great tragedy to privatize social security by putting it on the stock market. Stock markets crash and leave people broke. The last crash in 2008 caused people to loose their pensions and the elderly were forced to live in their vehicles! If social security is going broke it's because congress has been taking from the system and not putting the money back. Privatization leads to privitation.

It's our money. I paid into SS starting at 15 and ending with retirement. I had comfort knowing that I would have SS when I retired. Now, I am worried 😫.

Yes. Also, especially if it is to continue to be called an "entitlement", then we should consider "security" as being an insurance of minimum basic income for the disabled and elderly. Quit giving those that have been getting the most SS income (and need the raise the least) the largest COLA raises while giving those that are receiving the least SS income (and need the raise the most) -- that just keeps that ever widening economic gap ever widening. SSA, if it is going to be continued to be considered an entitlement needs to be a monthly income of $1 over poverty level minimum income for the elderly and disabled =--- with equal benefits.

As an old white man I say it's time for these politicians, both Democrat and Republican to resign and for their younger replacements to retire at age 65. America needs the next generations of term limited leaders to take charge. The Republican Party is now a third party behind independents and unaffiliated voters. Women have left the GOP. And remember that Trump and his children were all registered Democrats before he took over the Republican Party. Trump certainly isn't a conservative. He doesn't believe in ANYTHING the Conservatives believe in. He isn't really a Republican. He just controls the Republican Party.

My student loans have been forgiven. (Thank you President Biden.) I went to college as a single mom of 2. I relied on Pell Grants, scholarships, work study, HUD and food stamps. I earned my Master's with a 4.0. I am now 66. I wouldn't ever be able to pay the loans off. I borrowed $36k. Interest added another $125k. My actual payments totaled over $38k.
