Roma looks good but it struggles same as most other t7 bb’s in this game with the muzzle velocity (some 930 meters per second). This makes it very hard to citadel light cruisers

I have this ship it’s great...I took 3 torpedos and managed to sink an Iowa and a Bismarck with low heath

Historically they have the Roma modeled pretty well. Their guns had the highest muzzel velocity of any battleships of the war if I am not mistaken. However, it led to dispersion problems the Italians were never able to solve.

They could always buff tank builds by increasing mobility by having faster top speeds, rudder shift times and greater spotting capabilities for both ships and torpedos to make the game a little bit more balanced. Because you’re absolutely right, I’m tired of chasing RU or JP cruisers setting fires from me 15+ km in a battle ship or anything with American velocity, and they can just whip their ship left or right like its DD.

I took the +10% ‘Time to detonation of your battleships AP shells’ on Artisans Touch as a delay, not shorter like British AP. Meaning the higher penetration multiplier and velocity equals a higher chance of over penetrations on lighter armoured targets as the shells can’t arm in time ? 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🧐

I've actually already maxed out Di Revel he is really good in my opinion.. so yeah.. loving the new legendary skills and loving the Roma. That it all!

the Actual ship Roma was the opposite of a tank build, more of a glass cannon in fact, with crazy good AA

If you look closely underneath the AA platform between the funnels, you will notice a Fritz X remote controlled bomb (this is what sunk the Roma in 1943).

I start off with warm up in AI. When I get to standard, it must be something about my gamer tag! He’s a threat! Fire spam him and take him out first. Good god! I listen to what you do and try to do what I can. Lately, I have just suffered defeat after defeat getting no points. I pray some day I at least get a team that will work with me and not for themselves. God speed Spartan!

If you noticed as soon as you got a semi broadside shot at the Odin his gun got incapacitated. The one huge downfall of the ship is that you get turned into a tier VII Graf Spee as soon as you start brawling

I think the commander perk in slot 2 is what's causing all the overpens. It makes your shell take longer to arm, so it's through the ship and out the other side before detonating.

I had a Roma ram me out from behind an island as a Cleveland at the beginning of the match and the Roma proceeded to get citadeled by an Iowa

The Roma has the highest velocity 15 in guns in the game. But you have to be at an angle to get decent accuracy. It has the same problem on the computer

Italian bb's high muzzle velocity really good at getting nice hits on bb's but on CL/CAs they need to be slightly angled

On PC, this ship supposedly has some of the best penetration characteristics of all ships in the game.

Run Not One for the Nuisance and use spotter planes. I think much of your consternation will be aleviated. Better survival from HE spam and torps, better range, 10% better dispersion twice per plane, as his reload is sub-30sec with his base trait. BBs cannot hit anything anyway (relative to CA/CL/DD), even with accuracy builds, so being more survivable is preferable. With Cleveland, Martel, Mogami, Wichita, Fletcher, Lightning, Nelson, Helena, Flint, Atlanta, Belfast, Chapayev, Kutuzov, etc, Flammable Cannonier is a death sentence, and giving up a heal is not helping. The fire spam meta, ESPECIALLY now that USN CL have EoP, makes survivability builds a better option on most lines, the Italians included.

For Artisan's Touch, you stated that it shortened the fuse time of the AP shells. This is incorrect, this skill lengthens the fuse time of the AP shells (i.e. more likely to overpenetrate lightly armored targets). This is the exact opposite of the British BB's.

In my opinion since battleships are such big targets that they shouldn’t be in the caps unless absolutely necessary. They just get hit so many times. I cost my team a game by sailing through the capture point and I got focused because I was the closest battleship.

She was the inspiration for the Russian bb with her armor scheme so her armor is really strong

Thanks for the great, as always, video. About the perk "Artisan's touch", I read it differently. I do not think that it makes the AP similar to British, on the contrary, improves the penetration and the amount of overpens, as it detonates slowly (long range fuse). Am I right?

Oh my got I so do love Roma! Please play her spontaneously:) She is kinda sexy, you know. Fast, smooth turning enough to dodge, yet capable of hitting hard. Got to admit, she is my only premium ship from the campaign, besides the Yami, so can’t compare.

Ive noticed the high velocity shells work better on the battleships rather than broadside cruisers because of overpen however a angled cruiser does get wrecked

I don't really mind the lack of an accuracy build commander because I use the tank build on pretty much all my battleships. I do use accuracy builds on things like gneisenau though because when youre german and you only have 6 guns you need all the help you can get

I am a tank build battleship player and contrary to what a lot of people believe most of my shots hit home... a tank build isn’t just increasing the survival I lite against torps or fires but it is also a DPM build. An accuracy build decreases survivability for a small amount of accuracy... take a battleship with a low dispersion rate compared to other classes, let’s say the dispersion value is about 3 and dispersion builds decrease that value by around 5%... you’ve now decreased it to 2.85, a whole 0.15 which might land you one more good hit than I can in every 20 to 30 shots... ships like the Germans, Japanese or the Roma right here are always going to be inaccurate no matter what build you put on. They’re just TOO inaccurate to fix with an accuracy build. I’ve built my Jean Bart into a tank build and got its reload down to 18 sec which is absurd and every time i see Spartan play his Iowa boasting about his dispersion build I just think of all the times I’ve hit those same shots without needing to sacrifice reload time and survivability... due to the current state of the game with all of these fire starters and torpedo boats being able to resist more damage from them is very important the only real disadvantage is just range but even then only having 15 km is more than enough to stay away from DD’s or CC’s. This is just how I’ve experienced playing tank builds I mean it’s either this or Wargaming reaaaaaaaally likes me so gives me rediculous dispersion all the time but I doubt it’s the latter.

Look out as Italian BBs are confirmed to arrive with the tier 10 having 16 4x4 15 inch guns

As I watch this a year later, and as a new player, there are now 7 commanders for one tech tree line LOL. I guess you are no longer limited to the one captain.

I really hope they add a dispersion BB Italian commander because that's...just sad. Also Spartan I think Artisan's touch increases AP arming time resulting in more overpens on lighter targets. I honestly dread going down certain lines because of the low caliber guns that can't overmatch bows.

Pretty sure you got that ap shell perk backwards. Increases penetration and ADDS time before detonating.

Spartan Roma is a German bb with all quality but with the same big default the accuracy

Ya know, throwing in a dispersion bonus into the brawler perk would probably level the playing field somewhat. Atleaat getting within range would yield proper hits. WG probably has snipey and squishy and tanky but cant hitty as the meta. If you play tank build expect to be a punching bag. Roma looks like a nice ship.

Artisan’s Touch INCREASES time to detonation by 10%. So over pens will happen more often. No no short fuse shells like the British

Wow, even the new Mexico, level 5 battleship does more damage than the level 7 Roma and more than the Roma is premium, I have it proven because sometimes I do more than 100K of damage or up to 120K maximum.

I’ve watched a lot of your videos. Most are pretty good. You definitely have the long range down. Your close range builds are atrocious tho.... I watched your Vladivostok video almost in tears...

They act like they want us to brawl. Yet they do everything they can to make brawling a death sentence. Improve the secondaries and drop the detection range. BTW we'd love for you to make a video on how to optimize the camo system and another on legendary skill strategies since they have been reworked some.

Im gonna play the roma tonight. Also gonna test out the cruisers, see how they play. I bought the deal in the store giving 25 chests and got all the cruisers. Some have permanent camo wich look really nice. Edit.. Cruisers play pretty good. Although turret traverse and reload are slow, i do get alot of citadel hits (sometimes 3 in a single salvo). Torps are looong range. I think ive torped more ships tonight in my italian cruisers then i have in my destroyers 😂

At high legend ranks will to rebuild is insane. Constant repair up to 20%

Found this ship definitely needs a small buff at the very least , played about ten games in her no citadels, found the HE was a little better AP shells bounce like there on a ping pong table , As for the spotter plane pretty useless for one salvo ,

Spartan the guns on the Roma are to good, so much in fact that they over pen everything

Im not sure who asked for an Italian Sinop with smaller guns, a more flamable superstucture, and no dispersion buff inside of 11km but I certainly didnt.

Grosser Kurfurst - Tank build=push forward and be a magnet for every torpedo or sit at the back and miss- I have given up trying to get a good game - I have more fun in the Scharnhorst and it is much more profitable. I have even had better games in the Derpitz

Tank build really not that bad. I know it sucks sometimes I really enjoy playing all my Germany ships on tank build. Take all the damage have my secondary guns works. But we all know comes down to how your team works with you. At least one or two ships helps a lot when you are running a tank build.

Tier lll Orion + Azure lane Nelson commander = the ability to destroy cruisers in 1 salvo with a 105k damage game.

I would if you want more range switch brawler for not one for nuisances because when you get this commander high enough then you will never really get a fire on your ship

Got this ship for free thinking “sweet!” My first tier 7 bb. This ship can not hit anything. Missed full broadside of shimakaze at 2 km. Luckily it does turn okay but man good luck hitting anything with this ship at 8 plus km. Guns get taken out all the time. I always have one turret destroyed per game. Aim high with this guns, they always go low

Yes, they offer 2 cruiser capt's but only 1 bb capt.

Chill out with the hating on tank builds. You might not like playing them but many do. Don’t tell the devs we want only dispersion builds so we have battleships in reverse for entire matches

Also i do agree about tanks builds..I did see that destroyers get increased accuracy when at close range as part of the dual passive perks on legendary..Y didnt they do this on brawlers

Question did they make Bismarcks dispersion worse? Was in a match today and my rounds were doing everything but hitting the fucking target, at 5km they were still all over the place....thank god the secondarys still got the job done.
