Tapinoma melanocephalum is a species of ant commonly known as ghost ant or in the Philippines, it fondly called “langgam na panis”. They are highly adaptable nesters, capable of living outdoors and indoors. Some colony make their nests in the ground underneath stones, logs or inside woodpiles, and even moist grass and plant stems. They can enter buildings on trails that they make along the ground. Even the cracks in foundations which lead them straight inside our dwelling.
