Yeah and then the main listener is like chastised for doing their job when they had no idea about it, always feels a bit cliche

@@honeyjm8324 personally I never liked the stories where the speaker was practically preaching to you. I know some people like it but I don't know it always kind of felt like getting yelled at by the teacher for something you didn't do.

@@DrGreen-oo3ei yeah it kind of takes me out of the story plus it’s also not practical by storytelling perspective

It would be a good story where the human side explains why it is the way it is. I personally don't like the whole one-sided, preacher, my people are victims trope, especially in fantasy. When humanity is surrounded on all sides by enemies and beasts, when it is sieged and sacked constantly, when people are suffering and those who can help don't, what do you think happens? War. Elves spectate on the side lines for centuries, watching as humanity is picked off by monsters, even indulging in plundering themselves, and then they're in shock when those same humans exterminate said monsters and attack elven forests. "You say I don't share your empathy towards other creatures and nature. That I destroy and kill wherever I go. That I'm no better than the monsters I slay. And you might be right. But I love my people, my nation, my family. And if your death guarantees their survival, I will make sure your head is on a pike."

@@simplewrites exactly I would have had it where maybe the elves don't respect the borders as much as the humans do hunting on human land and getting into small skirmishes with humans. But on the other side the humans want more of the territory to themselves in the novels we're looking for any excuse to invade Elvin territory. This way you can keep the humans being the aggressors also making the elves fault as well for not keeping their people in check. Perhaps that's just me though yours is just as enjoyable. That just really didn't like all the preaching about how you're the villain and oh woe is me everything was fine until you showed up blah blah blah. It would be interesting if later on we learn that the elves weren't all innocent as well but who knows about what happened or if there will even be a next part.
