IMO this is Jason Hill's best interview so far, not only for answeing questions more precisely but also because he gave some new information and hints. Thank you, Tailosive EV and Jason!

This is the best interview and presentation of Aptera Ive seen yet. I appreciate that there is MUCH more going on behind the scenes than Aptera is revealing... and the overly impatient detractors dont realize that and only focus on the first goal post, not the much bigger goals Aptera is doing. This smart company is going to shift the EV paradigm.

Dean, Re: Aptera ROI. What might be Aptera’s projected margins, e.g., relative to Rivian, out the gate & at the year 1 & 2 marks, given their comparatively (thanks to Munro Assocs. & CPC) highly prefabbed manufacturing & streamlined assembly concepts of operations?
@deanmcmanis9398
@deanmcmanis9398 Год назад
@@Crunch_dGH Really good questions. Aptera had stated early on that they would have healthy margins due to streamlined operations, simplified assembly, smaller battery packs, and lower part counts. But they did decide to shift the original composite body design to CPC's forged carbon fiber/SMC body and panels in Italy after the demand for the Aptera climbed from a couple thousand EVs anticipated, to the current 40K+ reservations. Plus the sharply rising costs of battery materials and other components must make it harder for them to keep from raising prices from the original 2020 estimated prices, and yet maintain a good profit margin. Still, I think that they have locked in solid partners and suppliers, and they are focused on continuing lean operations through to production. But I'll leave it to Aptera to project their ROI after their initial production, scaling to volume production, and their subsequent IPO.

Excellent interview. I’d love to be at the top end investing in the Aptera. Unfortunately I am at the bottom praying the price doesn’t go up to high from inflation. I’d planned to get a EV as my next vehicle but the suckers were way out of my price range. Then along came this. I’ll probably keep it, charging, protected in the garage when at the house. But it will be nice to have it charge by the sun when out and about. Thanks again for such a informative interview.

I saw a comment on another channel saying that Aptera should market themselves as this 2 seater being a gateway to a 4/5 seater thats coming next. I think thats a good idea, might help attract more millions of dollar investor types? They might see a two seater as a niche car.. if they had it drilled into them the plan is to have a 4/5 seater next theyd feel better about the ability to make some money when sales go up with the 4 seater

Aptera has already stated that they will support the ‘right to repair’ movement, but what I’d really love to know is how far they are willing to go with that. Would they be open to a self build option, for example? There are a lot of talented builders out there.

There are hints of the range of vehicles Aptera has been thinking about in the SEC reports. I think Aptera has been slow speaking of this because of the essential need to get this first product on the road. However, as they near IPO, we will be hearing more of this subject.
@ccibinel

Aptera has a huge potential market with the current design alone. They have years of refinement and ramp ahead on the current vehicle. Going aggressively into markets with lots of direct competition and competing on price is a recipe for disaster.

The Aptera that i reserved is for a 600 mile/ all wheel drive/ full solar panel. Mainly because, i keep reading about other EVs losing out on range during winter and also the phantom drain (about 2%+. every day). I hope aptera's phantom drain will not be so much since it does not use as many cameras and other electronics for its surveillance mode.

I especially liked your question about the watt per mile difference between the 25kwh and 100kwh versions. I didn't fully understand the answer. Could you clarify if you got a better idea of the efficiency difference?
@ccibinel
@ccibinel Год назад
Given the incredible 0.13 drag cd and new statements from Chris about the 2000lb weight for the 400 mile launch edition and 2400lb for the 1000 mile we can model the numbers reasonably. This puts the 55mph 250 mile efficiency at 86.16 wh/m and 1000 mile at 97.66 wh/m (before considering any aux drain which is probably 200w - far more if you need heat or cooling). The design is efficient but it is still a significant difference with weight.

Light is light, no matter the source. However, room lighting is less than 10% the brightness of sunlight, so the energy transfer is that same less than 10%. Plugging it in is a way quicker way to charge, if an ordinary wall outlet is within reach. Of course you can plug it in and charge from the room lighting at the same time to charge even faster. 🤓
