Meeting strange puppies on ouelr walk 

Our neighbors have puppies. With their momma staying behind and watching, the pups were heading towards us. Lucy hasn't met them before.
On the defense cascade, Lucy was in a state of orienting: what are those little guys about. Do I have to work about them? Take action? Do nothing?
If the trigger doesn't intensify, and if the event is without consequences, habituation occurs.
I allowed for that to happen.
But I made myself emotionally available.
Then we distressed together.
