I remember this game coming out and being in awe of the fluid animation at the time. It was almost cartoon quality. They had actual Disney artists work on the animation which was cool.
The music in this game is absolutely legit. The number one way above all that it wrecks the snes version. The music in this game is probably not just the best in any genesis game, but some of the best of the entire era of gaming. To compare the music in Aladdin's SNES version to this, you have to be on literal crack..and then some. Nostalgia or not.
@@KBP120 Not even the best music on the Genesis, you have to look at the Japanese library to find stuff far better sounding than the high pitched stuff like this that the much hated GEMS soundfont pushed out. SNES one, Capcom took it more in a symphonic direction, and honestly the music doesn't make my ears want to bleed like this games music does. Go play something like Verytex, Bad Omen, or a Toaplan game on the Genesis/MD before even calling something like this good (2 of the games I listed has music courtesy of Hitoshi Sakimoto, who also did the music for Gauntlet 4). At least in Japan game designers used custom sound sets for games, and didn't rely on the sound font that gave the Genesis it's reputation for not being the best with sound. I own almost 200 Genesis/MD carts, this one amongst them, trust me, I have games for the console that sound far, far better than the ear rape that US and European game designers attempted to push for this machine.
@@Bloodreign1 Man, either you're a troll or you're literally one of an extremely small if not the only person on earth that would refer to the music in this game as " wanting to make your ears bleed". Come on.
@@KBP120It sounds awful, I've played Genesis games with far better music than this game pushes out. Hell I've even listed games in my previous post here that outshine the hell out of this games music. Western developers never truly got much of a grasp of the Yamaha soundchip, while the Japanese devs were quite used to and adept at working with it. Not trolling, just telling it like it is. GEMS is absolute ass, western devs should've gone the way Japanese devs, custom sound drivers.
Today's generation, people play more violent games, shootings, call of duty, etc...they lack adventure games like during 16 bit and 32 bit era, violent games starting from PS2 and xbox games, too much war games. I wish adventure games can come back jst like fighting games are coming back.
Especially the PC version that uses better samples. It's a pity the SNES version is a different game, not with the music I remember because this music would be awesomely converted in SNES.
@@Optimus6128 The PC Version is using the wrong music for some stages, and plus the ending doesn't have "A Whole New World Ending" but the final stage continuously to play until even the credits appears, despite having the better samples.
@@Cloudcolin I do not see any difference except that the music of PC is much better than this otherwise the same tunes sound in the same order is only different in the loading screen of the levels nothing more
@@gomenoni I noticed that the Desert and the prison music sounds different from Sega Genesis version. If you would take some time, to listen to both on longplays in both version, you'll noticed that. And the Cave of Wonders music too. it seems they swapped the music for those levels.
No doubt it was because Nintendo was trying to be as family-friendly as possible. In this case, it was a mistake. It’s a very good game, but inferior to this one in nearly every aspect.
Whoa.. nostalgia! I also found this game so hard back in the days. I believe I only made it to the final boss for like 3 times max... Succeeding 1 or 2 times. The rest of the times I just failed mostly on the last ball roll chase in the molten cave level. It frustrates me even thinking about it 20 years later :).
I love this game, too. Finished it 1000 times as kid. By the way, your throwing skills are awesome. I have never seen anybody like you, who throws stuff so far, and still hit the target ^^
Disney's Aladdin is game 🎮 for the Sega Genesis designed by Virgin released in 1993, based on the Disney film Aladdin. The game mostly involved killing enemies with basic swordplay and jumping across ledges. Several levels were very different, including one level where Aladdin must escape from the Cave of Wonders on Carpet and another where he must jump across the Agrabah's rooftops. The game featured few bosses. Levels were very different very start the a video games. Mega Drive/Sega Genesis version The game from Virgin based on the 1992 animated Disney film 🎞. SEGA had sooo many classics, Aladdin, Jungle Book, Lion King, Earthworm Jim, Mickey's Adventures, Robocop versus The Terminator, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, and on and on... golden age of side scrolling games. Plus Mortal Kombat! One of the best consoles and game libraries ever released.
They were hand drawn animation frames like the jungle book. I always admired the art translated into the game but gosh damnit aladin played like trash. Samus had already wooed me over in Nintendo land.
The runner missed a easter egg in the beginning of the desert level. If you stang so Alladin does his idle stance and leans forward into the Mickey ears it gives you a gift. Can't remember, but i think it's an extra life.
Aww sweet childhood nostalgia. The Sega Mega Drive was my first console/computer. I'll always love the Mega Drive there's just something so amazing about it and that period in time (the 16-bit era). I was just going to watch this (again!) and not even leave comment (because I left a comment before already) but I must say, I just realised watching it again this time... completely blown away by how amazing you done on those intensely difficult and notorious bonus levels, not to mention the entire game! Jesus... I've honestly never seen any thing like it! I've had this game since I was 8 but those bonus levels KILL (infact I think they were made to be near inpossible on purpose but you completely NAILED them well done! I honestly don't know how you did it and I'm just in complete awe at the moment and amazed that someone actually completed this game. The end few levels or the last level always got me (when you have to escape the cave and lava on the magic carpet)... Ecco the Dolphin used to be the same lol. All the Disney games were great for the Mega Drive btw. So glad I'm not the only one enjoying the nostalgia :-D
Haha! Yes,that is funny. There were a lot of SEGA Genesis games that did the same thing with the SEGA logo. "Eternal Champions" and "Vectorman" are just a couple.
+Wilson Rocha Snes version not even in the same league, and I had both machines. The Megadrive one was true to the movie, and it was faithful and beautiful
Matt Greer Agreed, its not a bad game. But you and I know the Virgin Interactive adaption carried the true spirit of the movie! Everything about it was so spot on, amaizing game :)
+Wilson Rocha I agree the SNES version is better. The Sega Version wins in terms of quality of graphics (and I always liked the fact that Aladdin has a sword in this version) In hindsight what lets the Sega version down is the way in which is rushes the story and the completion screens are appalling. The SNES version is much stronger in terms of keeping to the story.
Law Feat Roxas Not mad, lol...just think your comment is fucking dumb because there really weren't a lot of "butthurt" comments on this video so you are clearly attempting to troll.
CLOSURE! sweet, sweet closure. I never finished it as a little kid, and must have spent days, maybe weeks trying. Back in the days of "you can only be on the computer for 1 hour a day" and have to share it with your siblings.
+Michael Ritchie You should also get Sonic 2, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage 2, Revenge of Shinobi, Beyond Oasis, Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion.
These 16-Bit area graphics really aged well compared to N64, PSX graphics. Actually nowadays I prefer to play a sidescroller like this one in stead of a pixelated or blurry 3D game from the late 90's.

What an awesome adaptation of the 1992 Disney film of the same name, published by Sega and developed by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Interactive Entertainment and featuring the voices of: -Scott Weinger as Aladdin (Brad Kane singing) -Linda Larkin as Princess Jasmine (Lea Salonga singing) -Frank Welker as Abu and Rajah -Douglas Seale (RIP) as The Sultan -Robin Williams (RIP) as The Genie -Jonathan Freeman as Jafar -Gilbert Gottfried as Iago -Jim Cummings as Razoul
Wow I only played the SNES version of Aladdin when I was younger because I never owned a Sega Genesis and I haven’t even seen this version but this actually looks better than the SNES version
But it plays worse... Its a much harder game. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. But the level design is a small catastrophe in the Genesis version. And the boss battle against Dschafar/Snake, no one can take this serious. The SNES version is miles ahead of it. Is it cool to have a sword? Yes. But that alone, doesn't save the game.
I think between this version and the SNES version, I like the Genesis version a little more than the SNES version for a couple reasons. 1) The Genie shooting Iago while dressed as a referee looking at a stopwatch, that was by far one of the funniest things I've EVER seen in the intro (of sorts) of a game and it always cracked me up seeing it, 2) the fat guard's pants can randomly fall down and he'll look at them in shock while gasping, be it from hitting his throwing knife back at him, camel spit or chucking an apple at him, that also always cracked me up whenever it happened, 3) there were a few more bonus levels as well as bonus levels featuring Aladdin's little Monkey-in-Crime Abu and 4) it has more songs from the movie itself. Does this mean the SNES version is worse? Nope, if anything I see them as equally good though the SNES version has one good thing over the Genesis version and that is that its easier, the carpet escape stage is a bitch to get through but its definitely easier than its Genesis counterpart where if the boulders flying by so much as tap Aladdin's head, its instant death, and the screen is going so fast that you are barely able to react in time to avoid said instant death.

Ah man I have such good memories of playing Aladdin back in the day when movie licenced games were actually worth playing, it was always a mini marathon of Disney games with the original Ducktales, the Lion King and Aladdin, I was always able to beat the other 2 games but Aladdin was just almost impossible to get through.
Holy crap, I haven't played this game in FOREVER!! It was the third game I had ever played. The firsts being The Lion King and Sonic 2. Sega was the shit back then!
@Roborav it had more stuff? What's more stuff compared to detailing and state of the art graphics that stay true to the story the genesis version amongst all other Disney adaptations were well presented and beautifully designed in ways that the movie itself was. Disney themselves actually lend a hand with the creativity that's how it came out the way it did
There's a hidden extra life in the desert level. Just go up to the clothesline with the mouse ears on it and move to the spot where Aladdin appears to be wearing them, when he leans forward, and it'll appear.

I remember how much I hate this level "Inside the lamp". Looks like Jinny wants to kill his new master. Also, as I remember Aladdin has never been inside the lamp. Jin the who came out of there. But, the game is still awesome or at least very good.
I have played this game...longer than any other game in the world. No joke. Even longer than Skyrim, and I have played Skyrim over 5200 hours. Summer days winding down, me playing Aladdin for the Sega Genesis. Those were the days.
It's weird, because Shinji Mikami, the director of the SNES game (who later created Resident Evil/Biohazard and Dino Crisis) says he actually likes this one better, but David Perry, the director of this version says he likes the SNES game better.
Well from my perspective I'm gonna have a guess at why they think this. Both games excel in areas that the other game doesn't. The Megadrive version has the fluid animations with all the charm and humor of the film, the combat and controls are nice and tight and at face value looks the definitive version to get, however it's very repetitive and the levels get boring fast. The SNES version has far better level design, level layouts and acrobatics but you would expect no less from Capcom at that time considering their own IP's followed in the same fashion, but their version has zero on what makes the Megadrive great, it's flat rather than something that pops at you. If both of these games had a fusion of their best elements then this game would truly be a masterpiece. Overall which is best really depends on where your preferences are and for me that's something I'm really struggling at.
Funny moments and Easter eggs. 0:01 Genie shoots Iago. 9:36 Abu jumping on a guard. 10:44 A guard loses his pants 16:42 SEBASTIAN!!! 30:52 Genie’s level 35:37 It’s the Beast! 35:54 LOL The look on the guard’s face when his pants dropped to the floor! And again at 37:38 !!
When I was under 12 my favorite way to enjoy playing this game was by using the A B cheat I got bored so I went back to play again using the A B cheat yeah fun
How much FPS is this video? I like it! :) Awesome gameplay! I've played this game so much. Soon I'll upload it to my own RU-vid Channel! But first, some other awesome games from the 90's!
