Diddy Kong Racing was originally supposed to be a reboot of the Pro-Am series, but Nintendo thought it would be better if they made it with Nintendo licensed characters. It was probably for the best because having a first person view would have ruined the RC aesthetic
Me too... It's impossible. Damn slippery tracks... And when you are in some advanced part of the game, the other cars starts cheating. They are faster by far. And that oil always kill you, or those ice walls in the middle of the track. Fucking troll programmers XD
I think Rare's Mega Drive sound driver (which was used for Battletoads Double Dragon, Snake Rattle and Roll, and Championship Pro-Am) sounds like a variant on the GEMS sound driver.
It's a shame this wasn't worked out better by such a skillful composer as David Wise. His sound drivers for the Nintendo systems were top notch but alas, here it seems he was satisfied with a standard job. Very far from the amazing results working with Mega Drive hardware that other excellent European composers like Matt Furniss, Chris Hülsbeck and Jesper Kyd managed to obtain. It even makes you think he wouldn't have matched himself the great renditions of his own music compositions that Hikoshi Hashimoto converted quite well for the Arc System Works developed Mega Drive version of Battletoads using the Japanese SMPS Z80 sound driver variant.
I always wondered if the yellow car cheats in this version too. In the NES version once you get around track 15 or so the yellow car gets super sonic speed and is unbeatable.
That happens when you use the missles too much. Before the yellow car goes into turbo mode, you will hear like a sliding whistle sound and just before it takes off, hit with a missile and it will end the turbo speed.
Hmm. I think I still musically (and sound) prefer the NES version, even if this one is aesthetically superior. And has 'better' AI, in that it isn't a cheating bastard.
Listen to it through a set of nice house speakers and you'll think differently. If you listen to it through a system with decent bass it sounds a thousand times better
Man... That 48th level was like LeMans! And the competition... If you can call it "competition", after maxing-out everything & unlocking the Double-Supercharger, plus having a practically infinite amount of bombs to drop in the other cars paths!
@@easportssucks4347 I guess I don't see where it says tool assisted. I do see where it says it uses SaveStates but not tool assisted. Is that the same thing? It does make sense though, I legit think this game is impossible to beat without help.
X-Men - "Ok sir... Tell me your super power to join the X-Men" WOL - "I can win Championship Pro-Am finishing all races in 1st place without losing any life" X-Men - "No sir... No one can do that..."
Sheut6 Yeah, and also when they make a new burger. Which reminds me... shouldn't crocodiles also be included when they sell all those skateboards to the homeless?
" 16 bit blast processing" lol but it's slow as fuck compared to the NES version the music is also not as good and the engine looks like a carrot here lolz
The NES only looks faster due to the fact many videos about it displays the graphics in 4:3 instead of showing it one to one as 8:7, like this game. In reality, both run at the same speed.
lol the you younger gamers want to see a severe example of "rubberbanding"? lol just play rc pro am. modern games don't nowhere as cheap as the AI in this game!!!
