Incredible how well the visuals can be passed as a modern game, it shows the amount of Dedication Travelers Tales had before they became exclusively a Lego game developer, despite there track record being mixed from a gameplay standpoint you can't denie how talented everyone was.
This is why video games are important pieces of animation. Think about it for a minute or two. With all of these 2D platformer games, there’s always a lot of hard work that goes into making every single sprite and every single frame of animation be as fluid as possible. I can definitely appreciate stuff like that. Man, I wish there were more people in the world who appreciated presentation the way I do. Garfield: Caught in the Act is another great example of a game that’s very well animated, as is The Lion King and Aladdin (Genesis) for example. It’s just so nice to see how well these games look, even today. Art is definitely beautiful, isn’t it?
Some extras: - 5:48 You must jump and maintain pressed the jump button, so you'll take the life on the saws. - 8:23 go back to the elevator and it will go upper to a secret area. - 21:23 There is a secret level there; he should advance a bit, instead start to jump on the butterflies until the part seen in 21:40 and using that bug, to push a lever AND THEN back to the butterflies of 21:23,jump on them and go to the map section seen in 21:26. You will find, a red interrogation near the life and the stars (more concret, on the stars). Jump into it and you will enter in a secret level where you can earn an extra continue and find Band Concert Mickey.
Cool thing about the third one, didn't know that! There's also a "shortcut" for the first boss (the cranes). You can jump on the lower cogwheels while pressing JUMP to bounce higher and if you stay as much on the left or right as you can, you can throw ammo to the upper ones without needing the springs even once.
After all these years I thought the stress and rage was behind me. Only to see this video and it all came flooding back. Lol This game was so difficult to complete as a kid.
@@benjackson7872 maybe but the gameplay was pretty bad... i think MD version is the best one tbh, good soundtrack, great gameplay, not missing tracks or having loading times, and everything just looks smoother, SNES version isn't that good except for the music, but SEGA CD is the most complete version of the game so... it's all about opinions
Ah 2d platforming with no handholding tutorial or coma-inducing story. Just pure gameplay with objectives, puzzles, bonuses, and ultimately, fun, that you have to figure out on your own.
God, I saw the cover art of this in a game store once before I even knew how to properly read, and for the life of me never thought I'd find out what its gameplay was like (since my family, predictably for early 90s parents, was not keen on impulse buying their elementary school kid a video game, leave alone one he knew nothing about.) Thanks for this, man, I thought that for me this was just going to be a mystery lost to time forever.
i played this when i was super and still didnt know how cool it was, because i couldn't even get past the first level, to this day thats what I thought the whole game was like
In 21:44 after you turn on the switch you must go back to the place you've been in 21:27 to enter the special stage to meet the Maestro Mickey in the Tornado's concert to complete the game!
Micky mania was the sh back in ‘94. I remember begging my one grandma for it for the genesis for Christmas of 1994 and I got it. It was a 70 dollar game than.
I had this game when I was a kid, I remember it as very funny but very difficult. I've never pass over the stage at 32:02, that was always my game over point.
@@MamRadVlaky yeah, but as you can imagine, at that time I was very upset and I didn't know how many schemes were remaining until finish the game! I've always missed the emotion to finish the game in that time.
This is such a great game, definitely needs a remaster for the current consoles especially the Switch. Sega CD has the best audio for this game by far.
Still impressive in 2021, the genesis had some of the best graphics of any non 3d console. The graphics were really smooth for it's time NTSC 30fps, playing them on emulators running at 60fps is a crazy smooth experience.
In 8:23 wait a little longer in the elevator, it will bring you higher, you must go there to save the Mad doctor's Mickey otherwise the game won't be complete.
I remember playing this on my SNES when I was a kid, but I'm sure that the sound effects were different. Cuphead's design and animation remind me this game a lot.
This game frustrated me as a kid . Never got pass the 2nd stage the one with falling debris ,Stones and a rampaging moose. 😢 . But its a really beautiful game. And even if i never got to beat it, its still one of my Favorites😂
Takes me back when I used to play this so much, also I think my was kinda broken cause it tend to loop the first level after first clear before continuing as shown...also I never finished it ( I was like 6 if not less when I played this)
now that I finished watching it actually it feels like I had a longer game, I have no recollection of Pete...I remember running up the nightmare tower...but I feel like i had more levels :D
Aha I remember this one. I don't think I ever beat it though. I was fairly young at the time and the game was too hard for me. Hearing the soundtrack kinda gives me a nostalgic feeling
I distinctly remember there being a little Mickey Skeleton in the water trap at 28:02. Did they take it out in later versions of the game or something?
