@@Darteghoster it’s a common thing for people to complain that zipping is cheating, etc in RU-vid comments. Generally these people lack the understanding of what speedrunning is, or disagree with the rules. @death2qwerty is a regular in twitch and is just being a jokester!
It brings me so much joy to see you tear this game apart so casually, I wish I could take this video back in time to show it to my younger self. Congratulations Coolkid!!
Just discovered your channel- this is one of my favorite games of all time, love seeing these speedruns of classic games, especially WRs. Keep em coming dude!
Congrats CK on your WR! I watched you practice up to it, unfortunately, I didn't get to see it live, but awesome to watch it back here. See you on twitch!
Man I loved these games, MM 1-3, on NES back in the day- I had an nes advantage so I could cheat a bit. The discovery of which order to play the bosses was always fun, and the music was top notch! Great run man, cool to see these old school games still being played today. Side note, if I were young I'd try to get a job in network admin, getting certs in Net+, Sec+, etc.
Amazing. Found this after watching Salt's video on it. I was today's years old when I learned you don't fall through the missing floor on boss Wiley 3. I've been jumping the gaps since 1988 lol
I've done both the "don't work and play games" thing and I've also found the kind of work that makes other people happy while I do something I enjoy doing, and let me tell you, the former doesn't hold a candle to the feelings of usefulness and purpose that the latter provides. Coolkid, there's more that the world could use that you'd be great at providing. More than just entertaining people on the internet. I'm gonna show my three sons this speed run this weekend to help remind them that playing games and streaming is fun, but there's something deeper in us calling out to be expressed and find a place doing something harmonious with our world. It's really worth finding out. Keep looking for what you're trying to _do._
I am currently playing Mega Man 2 using an emulator. I am not using any cheats BEYOND the best boss order: Metal Man, Wood Man, Bubble Man, Air Man, Crash man, Heat Man, Flash man, Quick Man. I found myself STUCK in Quick Man's stage, not being able to get past the force beams. This level design is extremely punishing and unfair.
I remember grinding this game for hours as a child. I could never beat the initial bosses to make it to wily. After watching this, I still don't think I can do it.
Wow! Just saw this... crazy run! Brings me back to those days. BTW, I know a way you can shave off more time from your record. Fight Metal Man before Wood Man. You can beat Wood Man with a single metal blow. And then of course when you fight him again in the Wily stage.
Steven Seagal taught Michael Keaton how to be Batman. They actually just followed him around with a camera, then reshot it with Michael & put out the movie
I imagine the combination of just using item 3 to zip during Heatman and then using item 1 to jump over everything in Airman's stage. Apparently using item 1 during Airman saves more time than using item 2 in Heatman
There's a bug with atomic fire. It short circuits the death sound and respawns Mega man without delay. The same bug is used in the second death warp in Wood man's stage. It's really cool when you think of it that every weapon has a use in this speedrun.
