Just to clear a few things up: This run was livestreamed, hence the commentary throughout. This run is timed using the in-game timer, added up and compared with the old run to see how far ahead/behind I am overall. The far right column "PB%" means the approximate odds that the run would be a PB at that moment in time. The old WR was only a quarter of a second slower, but was from February 2020 and I had done a LOT of attempts in that time, hence why I was so relieved to finally get a record despite how small it was. The knockdown on Mr. Sandman was intentional, as when you get up, he does his triple uppercut pattern that allows you to damage him much faster than normal.
@@vincentc6012 also not sure where this was streamed. Nothing new on the main twitch channel since the last RU-vid video premiere. The penny streams were enjoyable so catching some runs would be even better.
To this day, Salt's record still stands. His two years of training led up to a record which still holds, 1 day later. Who knows when the infamous sub 14:50 will be broken? One thing we can be sure is, wherever the Punch-Out speedrun goes, Salt will be met with strong competition to defend his title. Thanks for watching.
this man literally holds EVERY WORLD RECORD for mtpo at the moment (other than single-segment highscore because that only has 2 runs). it's both incredibly humbling and kind of insane that he always makes videos about other peoples' accomplishments when his own are nearly on the same level
("We're Finally Landing" plays in the background) "...And this is where record stands today" When you are so dedicated to making well prepared document you actually contribute to the leaderboard yourself. I'm speechless.
SummoningSalt on his main: And the record was finally broken. Pushing fear aside, he had pulled through, and finally defeated the record. His alt: 19:09
After years of watching summoning salt videos and him showcasing other ppls joy at getting a world record.. it's nice to witness his excitement.. Great job dude..
So in the same 10 or so days we've seen a Tyson WR, a Castlevania WR and a Mario 3 warpless WR. These speedrunners have been putting in some serious work lol
Congrats man, your videos introduced me to this community i had no idea even existed. And thank you for the free entertainment, much love and respect to the punchout god!
This was my favorite game as a kid. Watching this run brought back a rush of memories. I remember being stuck on certain boxers like King Hippo forever and never being able to beat Tyson. So this was great to watch! I appreciate your skills and could hear the rush of excitement in your voice as you hit the world record. It reminded me of how I felt figuring out a boxer's weakness and finally advancing in the game.
Bro, I'm so super stoked for you. Love your content, love you, just super stoked. I know this game is one of, if not your biggest passions. Let's fucking go dude! Amazing stuff. So fun to watch. Excellent work.
Jeez. With a bit better soda/don 2 this was within 14:4X range, and without those, it took a major clutch for a mini record, but we take those. Now you've got some weird ass splits to go against lol. Gonna want to be *way* ahead into tyson for sure . . . In any case, very well played.
On a different tab, I played "4" by HOME when he got the record, and it hit different. It felt like something in one of his own documentaries, only this time, HE was the victor.
yeah dude the double quick dodge on tyson, i was like OMFG. and i was counting the missed frame perfect hits im like omg this is so close... LOL GREAT RUN
Just played this after a bunch of years- and i only got to Bald Bull lol! amazing!! I just beat Paperboy on my first attempt as an old man, though- so that's cool as well
